U.S. January History Thread

Just post a question and answer the previous question. I am pretty bad with books and stuff on history (i.e. The Feminine Mystique etc.) :/

Ok i will start.

During what presidency was the Clayton Anti trust act administered and what did it do?

it replaced the old ineffective Sherman antitrust act and focused more on antitrusts than destorying unions, which the previous trust had done. Passed during the Wilson Administration (1914).

Are there questions on the test that ask about how the government operates? (ex. Like in Barrons - who elects the senators and stuff like that or not?)

^probably. But you put no quesiton :/. Bad topic.

k... what is the Whig party and what did support and oppose? Basically what was the importance of the Whig party?

The Whig party was a pro-business, federal government political party grown out of the anti-Jacksonian sentiment. It supported the American system, and opposed the veto of the National Bank.

What did Henry Clay advocate in his American System?

It was a plan to allow the U.S. to grow and prosepr from within. It consisted of a protective tariff, the establishment of the 2nd Bank of the United States in 1816 to establish a currency and internal improvements to improve trade (paid for by tariff). Erie Canal was one such improvement.

What was the importance of the Louisanna Purchase (1803)?

Jefferson broke with his strict interpretation of the Constitution in order to purchase this territory from France. This laid the basis for looser constriction of the constitution for future generation. The Louisiana purchase doubled the size of the US overnight.

I'm too lazy to think of a good question now...

Actually...

What did Hoover's Reconstruction Finance Corporation of 1932 accomplish?
