U.S. Medical schools for Canadian Applicant

I am a second-year student with a Biochemistry pre-med major at the University of Toronto. I wished to go to medical schools since forever and recently received a permanent residence ( a green card) of the US. This probably is good for me since it brightens my chances of going to the US medical schools as well. Now, i have this question, I hd (not from reliable sources) that US medical schools are reluctant to consider Canadian undergrads (even if you do have a green card). Is that true? And does it make a difference if you are an American citizen? I have tried to find the answer for this question without much success. Please and Thank you.
