I just realized I screwed up the names of the two cases dealing with one of the problems of the group talked about in the DBQ, as in I switched them around (both ____ v a certain state). I don't know how I could be so stupid! How much do you think that will affect my score?

Well, I don't think it should affect your score too badly. They're not going to deduct points for minor errors. The problem is if you got something just completely and totally backwards or wrong.

For example, if you based an entire essay on the idea that the US won the Vietnam war or that the case Plessy v. Ferguson was a triumph for civil rights, you might be in a lot of trouble.

Yeah, I came out of that test room smiling...a little worried about FR #5 due to my complete lack of evidence for my second prez, but other than that...I feel GOOD. Thinking I got a 3-4, perhaps a 5? If I don't pass I will be surprised...not to sound arrogant but I PWND that DBQ!

Also...whoever posted about that specific term from the Civil War Era...yeah, ***? I have never heard that before. Also, wasn't there supposed to be no military history? 'Cuz I'm pretty sure there was a question about that...grrr...

Ok, thank God. No, I didn't do that. :)
It was part of my outside info and I by accident said that ____ v state was against the group creating problems for the group the DBQ was about, when actually it was the one for, and vice versa. I really don't want to abuse the rules here or anything, so I can't be specific.
Also, for 2 on the fr, I didn't know the specific year of one of the events I wrote about, will they deduct for that?

its too late now, but i didn't skip any. if i had a 50 percent chance i guessed.

To the person who remarked about one boy actually getting up and going to the bathroom because he had time...I was the ONLY one in my whole testing room who wrote up to the end! Most people had about 10 left on the MCs, but finished the DBQ/FRs with an average of 15/20 minutes left! The girl next to me only wrote a page for each FR, and for #4 she wrote about the wrong guy (Mr. Hundred Days, not Mr. Big Stick). She was crying when she found out after the test. But I was so surprised how quickly people finished, I think my class is not going to do too prettily from what I can tell...I'm still regretting doing Mr. Vietnam instead of Mr. Watergate for #5, but oh well, what can you do, right?

APUSH is over!!!! We should all be celebrating, not worrying!

I don't think it's really as important to remember specific years. It's good if you can, but I think they're looking for lots of outside information. The more specific you get, the better, but for the most part, you earn points, you don't lose them.

Unless you make big errors they're not going to deduct points. However, if you're not specific enough, you're not really going to earn as much credit if you could.

The test is graded more holistically. My teacher advised to write a really strong introduction and first body paragraph, because that's where the grader is going to get a feel for your writing and begin to decide how much credit they're going to give you.

This is all coming from my AP US teacher though, and I trust her sources and experience. As far as I know, her students have always had an extremely high pass rate (3 or higher) on the US exam.

Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better. :)
My teacher expects a 5 from me. She actually told me so before the exam. She has an extremely high rate, almost all 4s and 5s every year, few 3s, and I don't think anything below a 3 ever. So I pretty much trust her judgment. I feel pretty good about the test as a whole, so I think I have a decent chance. I'd rather not jinx it though.

I hated the DBQ with a passion, I found it surprising how many people seemedf to like it. We did three DBQ's throughout the year, and I got an 8 on all of them because I am the queen of outside information & effective use of fancy language. But this was the worst topic, & time period they could have ever chosen to me. The only thing I think could have been worse was covering the early settling of the America's, or the era of good feelings. I think the problem was that was around a time where my textbook, enduring vision, stopped going chronologically, and split off into topics during that whole time period. I know lots of usually know lots of outside information, but for applying it to "American *******", which already such a boring topic to me seemed impossible.
I did one of the weirdest things.
I did question two first since I hated the DBQ. I spent like 25min. Definantly had outside info their.
Then even though I hated the DBQ I did it second realizing how it important it was to section II.
Then last I did question 4, with like 10min. left. I think adrenaline was what I need, plus a topic I felt comfortable with, because I got through all but the conclusion. Do you think they will penialize me for that? My other problem is that I couldn't control my hand for *? I tried but coupled with time constraint & stress it was hard for me.
Last year when I took the AP Government & Politics test, I didn't even know what a DBQ was (I kinda did it online, but mostly indepent study) I had much better control of my handwriting then, I thought I would be able to retrieve it at an instant of great importance. I think the problem is that I've mostly stopped writing this year, I basically refuse to do anything if I am not typing. I didn't take notes alot but when I did for a few classes like AP US History I went really slow in a form of calligraphy-styled writing I do. Definantly couldn't do that during the test.
I hope I am not screwed.
I was so mad at my procter because I had taken the AP Calc AB exam on Wednesday & that lady asked us if we would like a 30min, 15min, 10min, 5min warning for our tests & stuff.
So I am in the middle of the history exam today for MC and I notice I haven't heard a warning so I ask an assistant procter who was sitting behind me to go ask her when & if she was going to give warnings. He came back & said at like 10min. So I continue & finish the MC. I am in the middle of going back and deciding for the few that i hadn't been at least 95% sure of originally & choosing whether to leave the answer blank or to take a guess, when I hear times up close your book. I was furious, I couldn't stop ranting all during the break, & the rest of the day. My friend said well they aren't required to give warning for the MC, & since as I just found out the teacher is a nun she may have found it morally wrong to do so. I could deal with not having a warning, but it's not acceptable for me taking the time during the test to get someone to ask her & then being told we'd recieve one at 10min till the end and not getting. Still mad as you can see.

I was wondering what grade are you in, because my school offers APUSH in 10th grade & I think all but one of us were sophmores.

MC was easy, and the DBQ and FRQs were fairly easy to answer.
I did 2 and 4, skipped none but guessed on a few.
hopefully they won't be too harsh on my handwriting.

Does anybody know if it's OK to go back and scratch something out and then write CONTINUED ON PAGE X (which is after other essays) and continue it on page X if you make sure to circle the correct one?

Or is that not something I should have done?

hey guys, im really worried i didn't do well on my essays; i chose 3-4. when i first came outta the exam i was super confident because although my theses weren't amazing, i thought they were good nonetheless. but then i started hearing my friends uhh mulling over cough DISCUSSING cough their FR, and they all used a LOT LOT LOT of details. granted they did questions 2 and 5, but stil. i'm really worried because most of my essays were conceptual--like big themes, ideologies, what happened, and i'd put in like maybe 1-2 (3 @ most) examples per paragraph, and i'm worried they're gonna be like "oh her essays are BS because she doesn't provide any factual support."

and MC i'm thinking I missed like at max 10 or so on, but u never know...

i really want/need a 5! how weird would it look that i got a 5 in euro last year but only a 4 in ush, supposedly easier, this year.

At my school it's the same. Like 90% sophomores and the rest juniors and seniors.

Oh, and we used the same book as you (The Enduring Vision). I never read a chapter of that book because I didn't like it. The whole year, I read outlines off the internet and review books.

i felt defeated by the multiple choice. i felt it asked too specific questions on junk that didnt even matter (books, that civil war one). i was mad that they only asked easy questions on the important stuff.

i read the dbq, put my head on the table and tried not to cry. i HATE that time period. i used all the docs and i belive i had a strong thesis and like stayed on the same flow through my paper. i used a sufficent amount of outside info but i only got real specific about a few things. mine was only 3 pages (1 front and back and then a 1 front) so im feeling waaay nervous that others were about 4 pages.

i was actually stuck between 2 and 3 cause i thought they were both easy. i ended up doing 3 and focused a TON on the options a picked (shoo, i raped that essay)

i read 4 and after i saw that l**** and t***** word, i paniced. luckily question 5 was a GODSEND. i actually enjoyed writing that one and i tend to remember really obsecure #'s, stats, dates, people etc. which helped me more than words (ha) in writing my essay.

but overall, i just thought the test was weird, totally unexpected. like i have been working my butt off, pulling all nighters every day this week for THAT?! kinda ticked off.

how hard do you think the grading will be? does a great thesis and use of docs and mediocore outside info help in the dbq, like a possible 8? and most importantly, how much does length matter!!!?? someone please answer, id appreciate it :)

I hope they curve this year generously. I was shocked at how culturally-focused the MC was. There weren't as many political and economic history questions as previous years. The DBQ was annoying as well. I knew absolutely NOTHING about that period. I only added a small amount of outside info, but I used 8/10 documents and sited them parenthetically (I hope that's ok).

And then I saw the FRQs and thought, "finally, some political questions!" I picked #3 and #5....and I bs'ed some of 5 since I didn't know much about one of my choices.

they're lenient, a 5 is a 114+, and stop fretting.

Hopefully they do curve it...A LOT. I want to put it out of my mind, but I really want to know how they grade the exams. I'm freaking out here, and I still have one more exam to study for!

I think I got a 9 on the DBQ.
I'm not joking. I seriously think my essay might be next year's example of the perfect essay that hits all the key points.
My FRs were probably the weakest, I did 2 and 4 and expect to score about in the 6-7ish range (Possibly down to a 5 on 4, but not on 2.).
MC were easy, a couple I had to guess but I've looked up every one I could remember and my guesses were right.

At my school, you can only take AP US history as a Junior because in US we have regents. Grade levels on history classes are pretty clearly designated here. Though, some kids who didn't take AP Euro last year, because this is the first year it was offered, decided to take it this year as Juniors or seniors (it's for sophomores, generally), or next year.

My school is weird and overachieving and while all juniors have to take USH, the "normal" (honors) class isn't offered, and we all take APUSH :P

I concur with most people about the MC and DBQ being easy except for stupid cultural questions...for FR I did 3 and 5 and I think my #3 essay was pretty good. But I'm really worried about my #5 essay...I thought I bs'd it rather well, but now I feel like I wrote about all the wrong stuff. Did anyone else struggle to interpret the wording of the question? Or is this all in my head?
