hey,
i'm currently struggling to make a decision between UVa, BU, and Wesleyan. Originally I was struggling between just UVa and Wesleyan (slightly leaning more towards UVa), but I ended up receiving a half-tuition scholarship from BU and an invitation to their honors program. I live in Japan so i havent had the chance to visit any colleges, so I've been looking through college resources, talking to ppl who are familiar with those areas and trying to get as much info as possible. I've heard fantastic things about UVa and Wesleyan everywhere and so I was going to make a decision between those two, but the honors program thing came up...someone please share their opinion! any kind of additional information about these schools that could help me make a decision would be much appreciated. thanks!

what's your major? i don't know much about BU but the city of boston is amazing. however, UVA is probably the most prestigious of the three.

at this point, im thinking of majoring in either English (creative writing) or psychology.

UVa and Wesleyan would be about even in academic excellence. BU HONORS probably wouldn't be far behind. So IF you agree that you can get a superb education at all 3, focus on the DRASTIC differences between the 3 in non-academic factors. Whatever you want out of your college experience, one of these 3 incredibly different universities will be able to provide it. So decide what sort of political climate you prefer (traditional, liberal, flag-burners), the type of setting (pastoral, urban, small city), the emphasis on sports (big-time, no football, small-time), and any other factors, and your decision should be easy.
Hey!
I'm going to Wesleyan this fall and I just got back from a visit there, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me or ask me here.
Good luck in your decision!

Regarding English/creative writing, Robert Pinsky, Leslie Epstein, and Ha Jin teach at BU.
