Post here if you are a member of the high school class of 2007 and are planning on giving UA serious consideration.

If any of yall have any questions, I'll be a freshman at UA in the fall in the University Honors Program and Computer-Based Honors Program.

How many UA students are out-of-state? I'm in Alabama, but I was just wonering how much "geographic diversity" there is.

21% from out-of-state (from which states students come from is not mentioned) and 4% from abroad.

More than what a would have thought...a quarter of the student body.

Perhaps, though I suspect that most out-of-staters are still from the South (MS, GA, and TX mostly). I'd like to find stats broken down by state to see how many Alaskans or Californians or New Yorkers go to school here (very few, I think).

texans are the largest constituent of that out of state group(quoted from a ua admissions counselor). lots of kids in the high schools around me end up going there.

WDLAN88-what are your stats? What advice do you have for the CBH program?

Can students be part of both the International Honors Program and the UHP?

There is no restrictions on how many honors programs you can be a part of. I know some people who are in all three: University Honors, International Honors, and Computer-Based Honors.

if i have a 29 on my act, and a 3.25 gpa do you think i can get into the honors program?? what about scholarships?? im from illinois, but whats the culture like down there? everyone thats from here says its a lot slower down there. is there alot to do around campus? do you have any pictures?

You are automatically in the University Honors Program with an ACT over 28, regardless of GPA. Scholarships are iffy, but you could get a few (it is a rather inexpensive school OOS anyway. I live not far from Tuscaloosa, and many of my friends go to UA. From what I've seen and heard, there is A LOT to do. The campus us beautiful--for pictures and more info just browse http://www.ua.edu

what are the perks of the honors program? like discounts on housing or anything like that??

You get first choice in housing (but no discount that I know of) and first dibs at classes during registration.

also, you get to live in Riverside (others live there (freshmen), but priority to UHP students. Riverside > Tutwiler

thanks for all your help.....im pretty excited! i hope i get accepted...im coming down in oct....anything thats a need-to-see??

If you're coming for one of the October University Days, you'll see all of the important stuff on campus. Just make sure you drive around Tuscaloosa for a little bit just to get a general idea of where things are in town.

I was accepted a couple weeks ago. I'm so excited; I've wanted to go to UA since I was a toddley.

The only thing is that I really want to get into the CBHP, and I think I'll be crushed if I don't.
