Looking for information on U of Alabama’s early college and students that have attended/stayed on campus during the summer. Our son is interested ( high school junior) is it a good program? Organized? Since it is during the summer are there other high school students that stay on campus?
Well I am going to answer my own question. Our senior applied and attended UA for the summer 2022 in the Early College program. It was the best decision he made. Allowed him to get a feel for the campus, take college classes, and appreciate how to balance his time. The first week of classes was a real eye opener for him. Made a low grade on his first quiz and realized he needed to “actually read the chapter” not just skim through and use quizlet. He also had an opportunity to live with other students and understand what a full year at college will look like.
The Alabama staff and coordinators were very helpful, made sure that all the students in the program studied, and made sure no one went off the rails. Definitely a win for our kid.
He is applying to colleges now; and maybe he will go to UA, but regardless the 4 weeks he spent this summer will be super helpful where ever he ends up attending.
