UA (Hunstville) shooting?

I just saw this…

[Several injured in Alabama university shooting - CNN.com](http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/02/12/alabama.university.shooting/index.html?hpt=T2)

It’s pretty sad. Sorry if I posted this on the wrong board. I don’t know if there’s a separate board for Huntsville.

This is the best place on here for it I think… on CNN now, very few details - three dead, more injured, this is so tragic.

good url - keeping it updated.

http://www2.wsls.com/sls/news/national/article/shooting_on_campus_of_university_of_alabama-huntsville/80963/

10 people shot
middle-aged woman is in custody -
victims are all faculty.

local news here… female faculty member who opened fire during biology faculty meeting when she learned she was not being given tenure.

^^^

Yes. Current reports are that 3 profs are dead and more are injured. The shooter is a faculty member who was denied tenure.

Another report is that the woman and a man are in custody. Don’t know why the man is in custody.

This is horrible.

2 of my friends’ husbands are profs there, so we’re very concerned.

Prayers out to all in the UA community

^ please keep us updated m2K, will be keeping them in our thoughts…

the man is the woman’s husband, not charged yet

3 injured and 3 dead at last update

Please continue to keep these victims in your prayers.

I just found out one of the victims is the husband of my friend. I don’t know yet the extent of his injuries or if he’s one of the deceased.

The shooter ( a Harvard grad!!!) learned this morning that she wasn’t getting tenure and returned this afternoon with a gun and opened fire during a staff meeting. I don’t know if her husband was a shooter as well.

I am so sorry for your friend and the others with family members involved… there are no words… hope he is ok.

He’s in surgery right now…He’s not dead. Please continue to pray for him and the others.

He’s critically injured. His son is giving us updates.

This is very sad news. I just got a call from a family friend asking about the shooting. The University of Alabama system will stand strong as more news about this horrible tragedy surfaces. I wish the best for the victims and their families.

The shooter’s name is Amy Bishop.

I’m so sorry about your friend Mom2 - he will be in our prayers.

I am so shocked by who the shooter is. It would be shocking whoever it was, but somehow…

So sorry to hear that Mom2ck - sending up prayers for him. So sad for all - including the shooter.

swim - do you know the shooter?

just curious.

This is terrible and it was so shocking to find out that the shooter is such an accomplished person. To do this over being denied tenure? How do people lose their perspective and their way like this?

No. I just meant that it seems more shocking to me that it was a faculty member. It probably shouldn’t seem any more shocking, but somehow it does (to me).

I’ve seen the pic of him on the gurney being wheeled to the ambulance. It appears that he was shot in the abdomen below his heart. He’s in surgery now.

It does to me too swimcatsmom. The shooter had achieved a great deal of academic and professional success, couldn’t she see that?

I don’t understand why she would destroy her others’ lives as well as her life over this. I also wonder what her H’s involvement is. If he knew ahead of time, why wouldn’t he have tried to stop her from ruining her life (as well as obviously others’ lives.).
