Hey guys, I just have on simple question. If all of mu paperwork (application, transcript, scores, etc…) finally got to 'Bama today(November 11), how long do you think it will take for me to hear back from them? Thanks so much for putting your time into this question. Wish me luck. Roll tide.

If you sent your app by “snail mail” and it was likely received today, then perhaps Friday you’ll get an email so that you can set up your “logon” so you can apply for scholarships.

Usually it just takes a couple of days, but it may take over the weekend if they’re running a bit behind.

If you’re asking asking when you’ll get your acceptance, I’m not sure. I know that Bama is being bombed with apps (because of scholarship deadline approaching,), so I don’t know exactly how long it will take to get your acceptance.

Are you sure that the school has rec’d your scores and transcript?

Don’t wait for acceptance to apply for scholarships. Apply as soon as you get your email with logon info.

I sent my application in on Monday and knew I was accepted on Thursday. They say it takes about 4-5 for you application to be processed and for a decision to be made. You’ll receive an email first saying if you’ve been accepted then about a couple of weeks later you’ll receive the official “Congratulations!” letter from the school.

Were you applying to honors or for regular admission? I’m wondering if the turnaround time is different for the two.

misscourtney…

Are you saying that you applied on a Monday and you were sent an email on the next Thursday saying that you had been accepted?

Are you sure that the email actually said that you were accepted? Or was it an email giving you your log on info?

What exactly did your email say? Can you copy/paste it here (remove any personal info).

And, when did UA receive your transcript from your school and your scores?

When did you apply?

I have never heard of that fast of a turnaround because typically a student applies, and then has his transcript and scores sent. And, usually during the fall months, the whole process slows down.

Hey guys, thanks for all of your answers. I applied to the regular undergrad admissions. I sent in my application a few weeks ago. And last week I sent all my paperwork with my transcript and scores, they even sent me an email saying they received them. So will it be a few days, weeks, or months before I know whether or not I got accepted?

i’m thinking 3-5 weeks, just guessing

The school received my transcripts on the 11th and I received the email about setting up my mybama account. I did not know that if that meant I had been accepted so I went to the school’s webpage to do the live chat with the couneslor. She already had my first and last name and she asked for my birthdate and she went to check my status. She said that I had been accepted and that I would be receiving my acceptance packet in the mail in two weeks. At the university day the people from addmissions said that it would take 4-5 days to process your application then 2 weeks for a letter to be sent out. So they said it generally would not take that long. I just chatted with a counselor who was able to look up my information then tell me I had been accepted.

^^^

Congrats…

OK…so the email was not the acceptance, but you were able to contact a admissions counselor who was able to look up your specific status. Interesting. :)

I can see that happening, when we were at ther Honors College the other day the counselor apologised for not having sent our DSs Honors acceptance yet because they were having trouble with the printer and wanted to make sure and have a hard copy of all the essays.
Sometimes in all this applications frenzy we forget that there are real people there every day, sorting thorugh the pile. :)

For honors do you get an acceptance separate from the regular acceptance letter or is it all one and the same?

Separate (10char)

So you had already gotten the regular acceptance letter? It’s just that now that I am on my third (and finally last) child going off to college, I have never heard of any admissions member giving this sort of information out over the phone. There is a privacy issue involved as someone else in the family can have your information and give it to someone on the phone. Not saying it has never happened, just out of who knows how many schools that my kids have applied to, we were told many times that this would never happen.

Good morning everybody, DD applied on 10/19, scholarship app a couple of days later. We had a bit of hiccup with the ACT score not showing up as received for a while. She checked her status everyday. I had called the Honors offices a few times to ask questions, no return call as of yet. Finally, DD called Mrs. Forrest directly after school. She called back last night! She gave her the good news, acceptance and full tuition! A great way to start the weekend.

I stand corrected then with getting the news by phone.
Congratulations to all those who have gotten in.

Congrats about acceptance and tuition!

Is Mrs. Forrest her UA area rep? Do you know if your D had to provide her CWID for this info?

I guess since Mrs. Forrest called your D back, Mrs. F was more certain as to who she was speaking to. It can get a little “iffy” because a person can “call in” and claim to be the student, but I guess if the rep calls back knowing that the phone number is right and requests to speak to the student, then there is more of an assurance.

So…
app on 10/19 (Monday)
verbal by phone on 11/13 (Friday) with acceptance & scholarship award (and who says Friday the 13th is bad luck! LOL )

So, if you hadn’t gotten the verbal, I guess you might not known til about Tuesday, which would mean that your process would have taken about a month. (If you don’t mind, I’d like to post this on that other thread where I’m trying to see how long the process is taking right now, to relieve the concerns of others who are waiting patiently :)

I guess that those students who are waiting for your good news, a call to your rep may provide the answer that you want. :)

BTW…what are your concerns about Honors? I’ve found that if I call Jami Gates number, I always get a response (during business hours). (205) 348-5599 Even if she’s not in, her number rolls to someone else who answers. :)

GLAW -
we should try and keep tabs on who from here decides to attend, If Bethany Forrest is your rep as well as ours we have to at least be in somewhat the same vicinity, never know when that might help either of us out transport-wise or something :)
