Looking at winter break flight options. One option is a flight that lands at 10:45 p.m. Shuttle leaves at 11:00 p.m. Is that cutting it too close? Our other option is a flight that lands at 4:20, which means missing the 4:00 shuttle by 20 minutes and having to wait until the 7:00 ride.

When in doubt, book the earlier flight and wait in the airport. Any flight delay on the later option will cause your son to miss the shuttle.

One benefit to booking earlier arrivals is that you can volunteer to be bumped off your flight for an airline voucher and still make it in time for a later shuttle. I took a bump last spring break and got $450 in airline vouchers, 2 meals, a couple free drinks, a night in Portland, OR and arrived on campus only 3 hours later than originally scheduled.

Which shuttle are you referring to?

The UA shuttle
