UA airport shuttle. Friday Dec 10 – Dd’s finals end 10:30am and we plan to have her catch the 11 am UA shuttle to Bhm to catch 1:10 flight. How long does it take for shuttle to get to Bhm . . .an hour? I think going through security and catching 1:10 pm flight should be doable IF dd doesn’t have to check in luggage. Your thoughts?

We are trying to get her home to CA in time to watch the school’s 7 pm winter choral concert that evening which her younger brother is in and which Dd was very involved with all through high school. And there is ONLY 1 flight that will get her home in time so I want to buy the ticket now if it is doable.

In my experiences with BHM, it’s never taken me longer than 15 minutes to get through the security checkpoint and to my gate.

If she doesn’t have to check a bag, and if she prints her boarding pass out ahead of time, then she should have no trouble with that time frame.

1 hour before the flight is plenty of time to arrive - Birmingham security is very quick and the terminal is not large at all. Assuming no unforseeable delay (like an accident shutting down the interstate), you should be fine.

The shuttle takes slightly longer than an hour, but what you are describing is doable. I’ve done something similar a few times with and without luggage and I have been fine. I do suggest that she checks in online and is prepared to go through security. If there are delays on the interstate or on McFarland, the shuttle drivers will take detours in order to minimize delays.
