UAH Coops and Internships question

What is the process for obtaining coops at UAH? My daughter has been accepted to both UA and UAH for Mech Eng’g and we are weighing the merits of both schools. Her older brother is UA Eng’g graduate so we are familiar with UA. One of our concerns at UA is the fierce competition, such as lining up at wee hours of the morning just to get on the sign-up list for coop interviews for the most sought-after companies. Is this similar at UAH? I’m wondering whether the competition for coops, internships, and jobs would be less intense because of the proximity/close collaboration of STEM companies to UAH and the smaller amount of students.

My son has several fraternity brothers who have done co-ops. One is currently working for Boeing – he is a junior and started with the company last spring. Another got his internship with Alabama Power. He knows another engineering major who is co-oping with SpaceX. They got their opportunities from the amazing fall/spring career fairs. My son often jokes that if you are an engineering/STEM major, you are set, because the top places come to UAH in search of you. He also pointed out that the career fairs (one in the spring, one in the fall) are open to all students, so it is possible that your daughter could land something, depending on her qualifications, as early as her first year.

@sophocles , Our Career Services Office does a fantastic job of placing students in amazing opportunities. The Fall and Spring Career Fair is a wonderful resource in itself, but students can utilize Career Services resources anytime they wish!
