Uarts unified auditions - ft. Lauderdale

Anyone know how this is going to work ? I’m excited to audition but I don’t know what to expect . Also, do you know how long we will have to wait until an admissions decision???
It is my top choice and I want to know opinions of the program . Can anyone help me out ???

Thanks :)

UArts has a “modified” rolling admissions policy. Students who clearly meet the admissions criteria and those who don’t are usually notified about 2 weeks after their audition. Some students fall within an “undecided” category and don’t find out their results until the end of the audition cycle.

The threads on this UArts sub-forum have a lot of info about the program, the school, and student life at the school and in Philadelphia offered by parents of students and students. Many of your questions may be addressed by the existing threads. My daughter auditioned on campus back in December 2006 (before there was a formal call back process as there is now) so I can’t offer any first hand info about off campus auditions. There are others who have posted about their off campus audition experiences.

Sashi0405,
My D auditioned in Chicago at the unified auditions there (although we are also from FL :)). Please, keep in mind, she is now a junior and things may have changed.

My D had her song selections and monologues prepared; she brought her music on her ipod and brought an ipod player (just in case). She also brought music to accompany her dance piece. She wore a leotard and tights under her audition dress and after she did her voice and acting audition pieces, she removed her dress and performed her dance audition. Afterward there was “interview” and Q&A.

She received her acceptance a few weeks after her audition…. and here we are!

Hope this helps… break-a-leg!

And just to let you know how things can be different for different students and at different auditions, my D auditioned this year at L.A. Unifieds. It was a different auditor from the one in Chicago. After she sang and did her monologue they asked her about her dance experience. (it is fairly extensive and she is a fairly advanced dancer) She was totally prepared to dance for them and had been up half the night perfecting the dance piece she had re-choreographed to the music she had cut. They didn’t ask to see it so she never got to show them.

We assume from this that they were not interested enough to ask her to dance, but who knows? You really never can tell!

I auditioned yesterday in Fort Lauderdale too! I auditioned for acting…what did you audition for?!
