<p>How did you compile this list? As for these companies, what do you mean by recruit?</p>
<p>I notice the absence of some of the largest companies at Cummings Research Park. Proximity to CRP has been touted as an advantage to UA students. Why are major tenants like Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Teledyne Brown, Raytheon, etc. not included on this list? Are they not recruiting UA students?</p>

<p>Those companies you mention do recruit at Bama. They recruit in the Spring. This list consists of the companies that recruited this last fall.</p>
<p>So, yes, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Teledyne Brown, Raytheon, do recruit at Bama…they recruit in the spring. </p>

<p>BTW, Boeing also offers some outstanding internships for business majors. I know this, because UAH snagged four last summer. That was of particular interest to my younger son, who is at UAH in the College of Business.</p>
<p>What is the average starting salary for engineers from UA?</p>
<p>It differs by discipline. I’ll see if I can find the stats. If I remember corectly, ChemE, EE, and MechE were the highest. </p>
<p>Eng’g salaries are very regional, but consistent. So a GT mechE grad and a mechE Bama grad that are hired by Company A, will start at the same salary.</p>

Mechanical Engineering - $60,500
Electrical Engineering - $73,700
Software Engineering - $93,900
But I believe I saw somewhere else that the average Starting Engineering Salary for recent graduate from UA was $56,000.

That is lowish…that may have been an avg of all disciplines. Some disciplines (CivilE??) have a lower starting salary.

m2cks No data was reported for Chemical Engineering graduates. It would be nice if UA would have their own data for their recent graduates on pay and job placement time by majors so that it could publish the data so their current and future students can get a better idea of what to expect upon getting their degrees at UA and whether to stick with a particular major or to change majors for better job prospects.

On payscale.com I see where you can investigate salaries for a zipcode…how do you do it for a college?
From the homepage (http://www.payscale.com/) click on College Salary Report…then on 4 year schools (or other types of schools you want)…and a drop-down menu allows you to search by name.
