Are there any current Scholars Program participants that would be willing to share their experiences or parents that would please share observations specific to UASP’s branch of benefits?
The program lists the below benefits that don’t seem to appear in descriptions of the Honors program but they are all rather vague - understandably due to the different programs. Would love to hear any experiences that actually fit into these statements so that maybe it makes a little more concrete sense what it might actually mean for recently invited students. Are some considered more significant perks than others or just sound impressive? Lol
- Seminars with other Scholars to sharpen the professional skills that employers demand.
- Invitation-only receptions with Miami University key officials.
- Unique opportunities to engage with distinguished guest speakers and lecturers.
- Guaranteed nomination to Omicron Delta Kappa.
- Designation as a Wilks Leadership Fellow.
- Designated study room and special borrowing privileges with University Libraries.
The following are listed as UASP benefits but have very similarly worded counterparts in the Honors branch of benefits. Are these different for Scholars vs Honors? How?
- Opportunities for internships and full-immersion preceptorships with Miami alumni.
- Guaranteed placement in some of Miami’s most competitive experiential learning opportunities.
- Immediate, meaningful relationships with leading faculty before students even arrive on campus.
- Personalized academic advising to chart college paths and foster networking connections in academic fields of study.
