UB Bus System?

I know that UB has a bus system, but I really don't know too much about it. I won't have a car, and I plan on living on north campus. I have a class 4 days a week on south campus so I was just curious if I can rely on the bus system to take me to my class on south campus and back to the north campus?

My son is a freshman living on South Campus. (Loves it by the way).

All his classes are on North Campus for him. He takes the bus daily. He has never mentioned any problem getting a bus back and forth, day or night.

You will be fine in this regard.

thank you! :)

The buses now run 24 hours between North and South. I believe it’s every 10 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes at night, but don’t quote me on that.

Just make sure you don’t have one class on north followed by a class on south 10 minutes later - no way you’ll make that. Depending on where you get on the bus it can take 20-30 minutes to get between the campuses, as there’s other stops along the way and stuff.

Buses and shuttles also run intra-campus, although nothing is too far to walk.

We have a fairly decent bus system (i guess). It can get pretty annoying at times (annoying bus drivers, wierd times, crowded busses from ellicott to north, etc) but you will be fine. like user_007 said, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE time (i’d say at least an hour maybe an hour and a half) between your north and south classes.

An hour and a half is a gross over exaggeration if you are talking about classes during the week at a normal time (8am-4pm). I would agree if you were talking about a night class or a weekend class, however. I take the bus from Flint loop to South most mornings and the trip takes no more than 25 minutes.

just make sure you have time. if you wanna push it go for the 30 mins, if you want to play it safe make it 45 mins to an hour. that is all i am saying. the bus does take around 25-30 minutes but if you get out of a class on north at 12:30 and have a class on south at 1:00 you will most likely be stressed out as hell trying to get there on time.

The trip itself isn’t that long, it’s waiting for the bus. I hear often that they don’t show up or are running late - I wouldn’t schedule classes any closer than an hour apart if you have to go between the classes.

The campuses aren’t that far - it takes me 10 minutes to drive it, 15 if there’s more traffic, but add all the bus stops plus waiting for the bus and it can take longer.
