Do UB decisions come in a regular single envelope? I called the office of admissions and she told me that there should be something coming in the mail within a week, but when I asked what my status was she said “we are not allowed to disclose decisions over the phone.” I then asked if there would be just a letter or a package and she just said “it’s a letter.” Does that automatically mean a rejection ? Has anyone ever received a UB acceptance in just a small single envelope without the big package ? I’m really lost because her voice didn’t sound hopeful and she only said “a letter,” nothing about a package which usually means acceptance.
I don’t think its a package. My friend got it in a letter. I just called the admission office today and she told me my admission status. Maybe call again and hope you get a different person.
Did she just tell you that they received your information or whether you were accepted or rejected.?
I have a feeling they only tell you your admission status when you’ve been accepted, but if you’re rejected they “can’t disclose”
I don’t think you have been rejected-I think it is a wait list letter
The lady said that my application was “weird” and told me to check again tomorrow. So its still being reviewed.
Ahhh so she didn’t reveal your decision either; just a little update. What could possibly make it weird, though ?
That’s scary
@JoshEss I called the admissions office for my son on Tues. I was told that they’re not allowed to disclose whether he was accepted or not. She could tell me that there was a decision made and it had gone out in that days mail. He received an acceptance letter from UB in today’s mail. It was a letter and a three page glossy insert that came in an 8 x 11 (?) white envelope which said “Congratulations!” in bold blue letters on the front so he knew without opening that he got in. It was however very thin so I wouldn’t really call it a “package”. Good Luck!
Yee. I don’t know why she called it weird, but maybe because it wasn’t finished being review? I called the admission just now and they said my application is still being reviewed.
Thanks for the better description of the envelope, so I know what to expect/hope for. Congratulations to your son!
Makes it especially difficult for people to make college decisions if UB is their top choice, and yet, still no word on whether or not they’ve been accepted.
So wait… Do they send the email first or the package? I was told that I was going to get my response by next week, but it literally takes 5-6 days for the package to arrive. Just imagining that they sent that package at the beginning of the week and receiving it later than May 1 where they would give away my spot is going to mentally kill me.
Same situation. I’m not even sure if I’m going to receive any package because I truly don’t believe I was even accepted. She told me on the phone that it’s just “a letter.”
Doesn’t “just a letter” sound really unpromising ?
Did anyone get a rejection today?
@Tekoneko my son did not receive an email at all, just the large envelope with acceptance letter. It was dated the 18th, mailed the 19th. Receieved today on Long Island NY. What I was told last week when I called was that if it got too close to May 1st they would call the students with their decisions.
Did you get rejected?
Well, considering that’s in basically a week or so, why couldn’t they release decisions over the phone this week ?
@Greegel2 Ahh Thanks. At least I don’t have to worry too much. I guess I just need to call the admission office everyday to see if they finish reviewing my application.
@Tekoneko which college are you planning to attend if you unfortunately dont get in to UB?
