UBC admissions question

I found this on the UBC engineering website

"Students are accepted into the engineering program on the basis of a competitive average in the following four Grade 12 courses: English 12, Chemistry 12, Principles of Mathematics 12 and Physics 12. The minimum average for admission is set each year dependent on the number of qualified applicants and their academic performance. Over the past few years, the minimum average has been in the high 80's."

Does that mean that if I have a 90% average in those 4 courses I will automatically get in and they wont look at anything else? Sounds fishy to me :P

No, but it does give you a great chance considering how Canadian schools aren’t as selective as their American counterparts.
