Accepted into arts!

Has anyone been accepted into Applied Science yet? Iā€™m an American student and havenā€™t gotten any response yetā€¦Is that a bad sign?

Has anyone from US (US citizen) received merit scholarship?
Looks like most international scholarships awarded to students from other countries.

I applied as an international student sometime in November or December and heard back in January and got in to the Bachelor of Arts program at the Kelowna campus.

Hey can somebody help me with a question. I was rejected from the faculty of science but my portal says they are still reviewing for my second choice faculty of arts. Does the rejection mean Iā€™m rejected from the school or just the faculty and still have a chance with arts?? Iā€™m not super familiar with the UBC admissions process.

@stressedouttt no it means you still have a chance with the faculty of arts. Do you mind if i ask about your stats

Does anyone know when American students will hear back from UBC?

Hi
I applied to UBC for Bachelor of Arts on January 14th, 2018. Due to some transcript problems, I applied so late. I was wondering if anyone knows when I should get a response.

Another thing, what are my chance in UBC Arts?

IB predicted:34/45
TOEFL:110/120

EC:
6 months of teaching at an organization aimed to teach kids of construction workers
One month of volunteering at an orphanage
One month of volunteering at an old age home
Part of the organization committee of hosting a citywide science convention
Studied Indian Classical music for 4 years and passed 3 exams
Taken two courses in uni level economics - UPENN and Rochester
Member of Helen O Grady
Member of school reading club
One month internship working with an economics professor
Scored 90% above in national exams

Oh I forgot to mention my subjects are HL Math, Economics and Chemistry. SL Hindi, English, Physics

I got in to UBC in January! Good luck everyone!

Iā€™m an American citizen who is planning on attending UBC. I was wondering if anyone knows if itā€™s possible to apply for citizenship in second year in order to pay the domestic tuition?

@ubc2022 I was wondering that too

No, you cannot apply for Canadian citizenship during your second year of university in order to pay Canadian tuition. The exception would be if you or a parent were born in Canada.

If you graduate with a degree from a Canadian university, then this allows you to apply for a work permit. The length of the work permit depends upon the length of the degree program. In general if you get a job with the work permit and it goes well, the company could sponsor you to stay in Canada. This does allows a rather long process which could eventually lead to Canadian citizenship, but it wonā€™t get there in time to help with your undergraduate tuition.

If you have a parent who was born in Canada, then the answer would be completely different (and involves a process that we have gone through).

Has anyone else still not heard back yet?

Still waitingā€¦I wonder when UBC will start to send out admission offers for US students?
