UBC or UofT??

Hi friends,

I am from Turkey, but I live in Austria… Now, I have been admitted to these universities:

  • University of Toronto - Art and Science - Economics
  • University of British Columbia - Faculty of Commerce

But I still disappointed… Because both are reputable and qualified universities. A friend of mine, who currently studies at UofT, told me that it’s extremely hard to study Economics at UofT. So, I don’t want to drop during my undergraduate study… Therefore I was thinking about UBC. However, when it came to make decision, I am extremely disappointed…

What’s your opinion and recommendation?

Thanks for consideration…

Vancouver is a beautiful city and the direct admit to the UCB Dept. of Commerce is an added plus. You can’t go wrong with either school, but given the choice I would go for the more contained campus at UBC.
Why are you disappointed…?

What criteria are important to you in making the decision? What are the underlying factors in your disappointment in making the decision?

B Comm is typically better for getting jobs than BA in Econ… You can take/benefit more from taking Math in Econ. UBC has a higher reputation rankings than UofT in Business/Management. Both Universities are top notch!

Both cities are very expensive but Toronto is totally flat, colder, has lake access… but UBC has ocean, snow cap and much warmer winters and cooler summers.
