I’m wondering how career prospects are after graduating from these facultys? For what it’s worth I’m trying to choose between Economics Major at Arts and Sauder. If it helps, I plan to work for sometime after graduating before going on to grad school. Does anyone have an idea which faculty is more well regarded by employers / north america in general?

UBC has a very good Economics program. That being said you have to do relatively well in your first year at UBC in order to get into the Econ program. UBC is generally (at least imo) a harder school than many Canadian and US institutions (I would argue that in terms of Canada, only UofT is harder). The average GPA is usually 3.0-3.1 (as opposed to 3.3-3.4 in US schools).

UBC Sauder is also a very good school. You will have good opportunities within Sauder (in terms of case competitions, student run clubs, and conferences). That being said Sauder is very competitive. Students in Sauder always take on other responsibilities and they always try and do better than their peers (one could say it can be a bit cut throat).

Both are great programs so either would be a good choice. That being said, at least imo, it is much easier to go from Sauder -> Arts then it is to go other way around.

As for which faculty is more well regarded? I honestly have no idea, sorry.
