UBC vs Mcgill?

Got accepted to Mcgill inter faculty of arts and science and UBC faculty of science. Im not completely set on pursuing a career on science so i want to go somewhere that is well rounded. Money is not a problem.

Which school is better for undergraduates on a purely academic level? I know mcgill is ranked higher than ubc on several lists but I know that those are research based.
And, if you can’t speak French is it impossible to get a job in Montreal?

ANDD if you’re currently attending Mcgill or UBC, how happy are you? And why?

Thanks so much!

Bump!!!

Both schools are top schools in Canada. UBC is probably the better Engineering/Physics/Math school, McGill the better Bio/Medicine school. UBC does more research (it’s bigger). First year education is roughly the same. UBC is a much more diverse school in terms of its population. If you can’t speak French you’ll have a harder time getting a job in Montreal than Vancouver, granted McGill is in the middle of Montreal and UBC is on the peninsula.

I chose UBC in the end for a combination of weather, programs, location and city. I liked Montreal quite a bit when I went there, but you can’t bike year round and there’s no skiing. And I liked the bigger school, class sizes are the same but there are more opportunities to find that niche you like at UBC than a smaller school like McGill.

I love UBC, it’s up to you whether or not it fits you or not.

i’d like to ask the same question but about arts - languages, music and literature mcgill vs. ubc. any thoughts?

McGill has 29,600 full time students. I guess size is relative.
