UBC vs. Purdue for engineering

Hey guys.. I'm having quite a difficult time deciding which one I should attend
I'm a Canadian Citizen btw.

UBC
Pros: Beside the Ocean/Nice weather/Chinese Food/Many attractions/Rank higher overall/less $$$/No need to renew VISAs and other stuff

Cons: Probably won't rank as well in Engineering/Less known/less engineering choices/less diversity (mostly Asian)/Need to Take LPI in order to be able to register english class.

Purdue U
Pros: Top 10 Engineering school in the states/ Great Diversity Engineering school/American University experience
Cons: In the midst of cornfields(or so I heard)/Cost lots of $$$/no chinese food/far from cities/Rank lower overall.

Would someone advise me on my choice?

Unless you get a full scholarship to Purdue, UBC (the choice is easy, as you are Canadian). Purdue isn't exactly strong in fields other than engineering, while some people I've talked to online say that UBC is a good all-around university, should you want to study other subjects there. As far as grad schools go, UBC fares well, as do most top Canadian universities. Finally, there is the atmosphere - UBC seems better suited to you as well.

my taiwanese friend from high school (taiwanese/canadian dual citisenship, high school in midwest) was also facing a similar situation where he had to pick from UBC, UWashington, USC, UMinnesota, and Purdue for business, the order being his preference.

hope this helps.

If you plan to work in the US, Purdue will be better choice.
