UBC vs UofT vs McGill

Hi all, I am in need of some advice.

I am currently deciding which university to attend (UBC, McGill, or UofT). I plan on studying biochemistry in my undergraduate and going to the US for graduate school afterwards, eventually working in research. I currently live in Ontario so UBC and McGill are quite far.

Which university has the best research opportunities? Which will be the hardest in terms of maintain a 3.7+ GPA? Is grade deflation higher in one school than another? Which one is considered the most prestigious from the perspective of US school (I know prestige is a factor grad schools tend to care about in the US)?

Which one would you choose and why?

I graduated in biochem from U of T. IMO, U of T is the answer to all your questions above.

I’ve heard grade deflation is really bad at U of T and the classes are huge. Is this true?

U of Toronto is ranked highest on two of three world university rankings, but they are all very highly regarded universities. Where would you like to live? Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver? They are quite different cities, and with French spoken in one of them. Would you like to practice your French while getting your degree? Do you love the coast and mountains that would be available in Vancouver? Do you want to be as close to home as possible? I don’t think prestige should be your deciding factor, as they are all prestigious.

There are some large classes at U of T, but there’s also small ones. The classes aren’t any larger than most public schools. The grade deflation will be about the same at all 3.

BTW I agree with @mommyrocks .

Hey everybody!
I need to choose between McGill and University of Toronto for International Relations.
I’m an international student.
Could somebody please clarify on how hard it is to do well in the University of Toronto with the grade deflation and all? And how bad is the “huge classes” problem?

Also, does McGill have International Relations as a separate major.
Is it also true that there are far fewer opportunities for internships, etc in Montreal?

If you speak French there are an abundance of internship opportunities in Montreal. Most internships in international relations at both schools may be in Ottawa.

STEM grad programs won’t differentiate between these 3 by prestige. What you do would matter far more.
