uber important question?

Hi.. i have a last minute question?

What would be the best route for me to go.. to first, get accepted to uva, and if I do get accepted, the best route to go to commons, The McIntire school of business?

I am in the top 20% of my school, 3.55/4.0 gpa, 700M/640V 1340 total, and 4.0 senior semester report, I have 740 Math I, 650 Math II and 660 Chem Sat ii's. I am instate, No. VA, and I am Asian American. Assuming everything is adequate, what would be my best chances with these stats?

Should I apply to the engineering school? or the School of Arts and Sciences? I was also wondering the acceptance rates for either schools. The reason is because my primary goal is to ultimately attend the undergrad business school at uva.

Any help would be tremendous. Thank You.

If i were you I would go arts and sciences... the engineering school at uva is smaller, and therefore more competitive among applicants. Not saying that you arent qualified...but that would be most direct way to get there. then apon getting there...go business

Steven, that's a tough question. The specific answer is that the acceptance rate at the e-school is actually significantly higher than 'the college' (of Arts and Sciences).

But, that does not tell the whole story. Undoubtedly, people who apply to the e-school have higher SAT scores. To fully understand the decision problem ahead of you, you need the average SATs and GPAs for NOVA-based accepted and rejected students at the two schools. And, UVa does not publish such statistics.

I'll offer one data point: My son is a third year in the e-school. His SAT Is were about the same as yours, his GPA was higher, and his Math SAT II was much higher. He was one of the 29(!) students who went to UVa from our large NOVA high school.

If anything, I would say that the 650 on the Math II might be a tie-breaker, and suggests you apply to the college vice the e-school. You didn't say whether it was the IIAB or the IIBC, but it really doesn't matter--I would give the same advice either way.

Hey,

just apply to the nursing school, you'd get in no sweat - just have to suffer through some 7 am bio classes for a semester, and transfer out ;-).

Just kidding, but really, I think you'll have a hard time getting in to whichever school you apply to. You might as well apply to the college because you don't look like you're that great in math (believe me I'm not either) so why destroy your GPA for 1 semester in the e-school - especially when its known to be very hard? Besides, the higher acceptance rate in the e-school is misleading, they on average have notably higher test scores than the kids in the college. All the kids who apply are very smart.

of course, you still could apply to the nursing school...being a dude and all...

I just received my December scores, and I got a 690 on my Sat Math Level II. Anyways, Thank for your advice. I think I will just apply directly to the A&S college. And the nursing part, I never really explored the nursing career, so I probaly wont do it, lol. I'l definately take a look at it now, but Thanks.
