My daughters HS required her to take Earth Science in 9th grade, then Biology in 10th, she is taking Chemistry in 11th and does not want to take science next year in 12th (she wants to take a college course in Psychology).

We just found out that for UC a-g purposes, Earth Science is not considered a science (d) but is an elective (g). How do UC's look at this 2 versus 3 year requirement? All things being equal, will she be put further down the list for admissions not having the 3 years of science?

Can other courses make up for this lack of the 3 years of science, for instance she also has 4 years (8 semesters) of the (g) elective courses and has completed 2 classes college classes from a CSU?

Or, do you think it is imperative that she take an additional year of science to even be considered for admission?

Thanks
