Is the UC A-G subjects a requirement to get into UC schools. I am out of state and have not completed the visual arts portion. Has anyone ever been accepted into school without completing the visual arts?
Yes, if you do not complete all requirements, your application will not be considered for admission. There are different ways to fulfill the requirement.
F) Visual and performing arts
UC-approved high school courses
One yearlong course of visual and performing arts chosen from the following: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art
AP or IB Examination
Score of 3, 4 or 5 on the AP History of Art, Studio Art or Music Theory Exam;
score of 5, 6 or 7 on any one IB HL exam in Dance, Film, Music, Theatre Arts or Visual Arts
College courses
Grade of C or better in any transferable course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units that clearly falls within one of four visual/performing arts disciplines: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art.
There is admission by exception but is rarely used. http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/freshman/minimum-requirements/exception/
Since In-state applicants are required to fulfill these requirements, why wouldn’t an OOS applicant be treated the same?
Yes, you absolutely need it to be admitted to a UC. That along with a 3.4 GPA is the bare minimum to get into UC’s.
Don’t forget that OOS pay full fees in California public schools.
