Hi, looking for some advice on the additional comments section for a UC transfer applicant

Im debating whether or not to include additional comments into my application because i have two C's one of which is a major course for my major chemical engineering. The reason is during the course of two semesters of my college career i was homeless and focused heavily on the stresses related rather than my GPA. Does this sound like a valid reason or could it be seen negatively as an excuse for poor grades? I explained briefly my homeless situation in the actual prompts so should i be more specific as to the things i dealt with at the time? or just leave additional comments blank. thanks

well like i said i did mention them in the second prompt talking about personal experiences its just that i didn’t go into detail on how it affected me as a student and instead simply mentioned it as a product of circumstances in my life and how despite my set backs i continued to pursue higher educaiton

I think that being temporarily homeless is definitely something that should be added to your comment section because it sounds like a perfect justification to a slip in your grades. That being said, considering you already used this topic in your prompts I’d maybe hold back if you think it might become repetitive depending on how much detail you put into those “brief explanations.”

Short answer: yes if you think you didn’t explain it thoroughly ; no if you already went over most of the details.

(sorry I didn’t give you a definitive yes/no)

Thank you for your help when i said “brief explanation” i literally said “…suffered through homelessness for several months” that was really the only mention of it in the prompt. What i was planning on adding to the additional comments were specifics to the stress a homeless teen endures. I think i’ll add in the additional comments i have Thanks
