what is my chance of getting into a UC if I'm in the top quarter of your class? and can people not in the top quarter even get into ucs?

@ajay351: I suggest you google common dataset for each UC you are interested in. There is a breakdown of the % admits that are in the top 10%/25% etc… of their HS class on some of the datasets. Also you will see the breakdown of SAT/ACT scores and unweighted GPA’s to give you an idea of your chances.

Yes, applicants not in the top 25% can get into the UC’s but many may be athletic recruits or have special circumstances.
Here is a link to the common dataset for UC Santa Cruz: 96% of admits were in the top 10% and only 4% were in the top 25%.

@gumbymom what if your school dosent rank but your pretty sure your not in the top 25%

If you are not in the top 25%, then you chances are pretty slim. Here is the common dataset for UCR.
94% of admits were in the top 10% of their HS classes and 6% in the top 25%.

@Gumbymom but how would they know if your school dosent rank

My son’s school did not rank but based on GPA, UC admissions uses the HS profile to figure out where you stand in comparison to the rest of your HS classmates. That is how they know if you are ELC eligible (top 9% of HS or state).
