San Diego - Ethnic Studies
Santa Barbara - Psychology
Santa Cruz - Sociology

Accepted: Santa Cruz, Riverside
Rejected: Irvine, San Diego, Los Angeles, Berkeley
Waitlisted: Santa Barbara, Davis

SAT: 1920 (CR:620 WR:610 MATH: 690)
ACT:32 (Composite:32 English:33 MATH: 33 Reading: 32 Science:30 Combined English/Writing: 29)
SAT2: Math 2 - 690
Korean w/ listening - 770

My current GPA is 3.83 and when I applied, my GPA was 3.75.
Santa Barbara allows me to accept the waitlisted spot and appeal.
Davis has two options: take the waitlist spot and write a 200 word essay or forfeit the waitlist spot and appeal.

When appealing, I need my Senior year 1st semester grades, which are:
ASB - A
AP Literature - A
AP Physics - B
AP Calculus AB - A
AP Econ - A
Total GPA: 4.6

What are my chances?

I got into UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis with a 2100 SAT but I had a lower GPA, around 3.5. I don’t think UCs really care about your senior grades. When you’re wait listed, you need to write what specifically about that school makes you want to attend. I had a friend in UCSB write a great letter about why he wants UCSB so badly. He also called the admissions office until they may have been annoyed…and he had lower stats than you (GPA /SAT). I think that for Davis and Santa Barbara you have a good chance just find out things about each school (exp. SB noble price professors in certain departments, would love to be taught and work with them…). Hope this helps!

RIGHT ON! Write your appeal based on who you want to take classes with and why at these places. That said, UCSC is a GREAT guaranteed back up especially in Soc.
