My friend told me that if you don’t hear from the uc’s within the first couple weeks of March then you are most probably in because they send out all the rejected applicants emails first. Is this true or is my friend full of it?

Its different for every UC. And your friend is full of it.

I want my letters....

I got mine today ha ha!!! UCLA whoop whoop...so happy right now

Uh, you got an acceptance email from UCLA today? Care to post it?

Engineers get their acceptances early from UCLA

Actually, they get a letter that says that they are being "recommended for acceptance" :) but yeah, its as good as an acceptance. Darn lucky engineers (at least until classes start lol)

While it does say, "HSSEAS has recommended your admission". I believe that this recommendation causes one to be accepted to UCLA. There are a few points which cause me to believe this. First it says, "More information about your acceptance will be contained in a formal letter of admission". Secondly, the letter informs one that he or she is invited to an open house on Sunday, April 10. Why would someone be invited, and asked to RSVP to an open house on a date after acceptances are handed out if they can be rejected? Third the letter reads, "I am pleased to inform you that UCLA is able to guarantee you on-campus university housing." Why would one be guaranteed housing if he or she can be rejected. And lastly, the letter reads, "I hope you will join the UCLA community". This statement reads as if one was already accepted. These four reasons cause me to believe that the letter guarentees admission.

UCI starts putting notifications online on March 1 just in case anyone was wondering, although they don't put all of them up at once.

Is it ONLY the Engineers who are "pre" notified by mail from UCLA? What about applicants to other UC colleges?

UC Decisions will come; they don't send out either the rejects or accepts first or last. I've friends who found out that they were accepted in early March and accepted in late March. Rejection is also applicable (in early and and late).

But it does vary from school to school. Berkeley puts their stuff online on March 31st for everyone.

SuperSheep, that is exactly why i believe that it's an acceptance letter, but i called the admissions office this afternoon and they said that they are just "considering" you for that alternative major....

"I am pleased to inform you that UCLA is able to guarantee you on-campus university housing." Why would one be guaranteed housing if he or she can be rejected.

well, actually they could put that in every application packet they wanted to and it wouldn't mean anything other than housing is guaranteed for three years.

Does anyone know whether they sent these letters out in previous years?

UCLA does it every year

What if I put engineering as alternative major?

you can't do that i thought...since UCLA engineering is a whole different school than Letters and Science. I'm pretty sure you have to stick to one school.

Hi
I got my acceptance from UCLA (HSSEAS) engineering, callin me and my parents on 10th Apr.
Did u get the same letter. So, can I consider my adm confirmed at UCLA after this letter, I am new at this stuff.
How does Engineering of UCLA compare with Engineerinfr at UC Berkeley.
Bye

they won't officially tell you you're in until the pre-approved date, but you're basically in. It's like getting a likely letter, you can usually consider yourself accepted

Hope 4 the best and GOOD LUCK to all of us.
