I will be applying to the following UCs: Los Angeles, Berkeley, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Riverside, and Irvine. In addition, my dream school is Stanford.
My current GPA is 4.45, which puts me at the top 4% of my graduating class. My ACT score is 34 composite, and I am involved in Academic Decathlon and other school organizations. On weekends, I volunteer at church and in the hospital.
What are my chances of getting into any of these? Would appreciate stories about people who have been accepted or rejected with similar grades. Thank you!
Stanford: Reach (for everyone applying)
UCB/UCLA: Match/High Match
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCSB: Low Match
UCR: Safety
You have an competitive GPA and ACT score. EC’s look good but nothing outstanding which is why Stanford is a Reach. If your essays are as good as your academics, then you have a great chance at all the UC’s.
Good Luck.
Stanford doesn’t take any freshman year grades or electives into account and they unweight your GPA, so recalculating your GPA after that should give you a better grasp of where you’re at. If you aren’t planning on taking the SAT, then I recommend taking the SAT subject tests; that will improve your stats. You have a good chance of getting into any of the UCs, but Stanford, of course, is iffy for everyone applying. As long as your application and essays show that you have a passion for something then I think you’ll do great!
Please chance me back!
