I want to apply to Stanford because of the oppourtunities in research and classes at the Hopkins Marine Center (this might be one of my essay topics). Also, my C in Calc BC, will that hurt me? Thank you for those that reply!

i think you have a better shot at the UCs than Stanford i would really improve that SAT score for Stanford...

bump 10 chars

Your class rank is amazing and will give you a great edge. I'd say your biggest concern ought to be increasing your SAT score at this point. Stanford is still a reach (as it is for pretty much everyone) but you've got a really serious chance (60%+) at most of the California schools from what I've heard about the state's admittance system.

Good luck! Chance me if you get a chance :)

Stanford is definately a reach, and UCSD and UCSB seems like safeties and UCLA and UCB are matches. Good luck, you have great stats. But like everyone said, really take some time and try to raise your SAT scores.

Yeah I don't think you have much chance at Stanford unless you raise your score to 2100+... but you look really good for Berkeley (which also has one of the top research places in the US) so I wouldn't worry about not getting into Stanford.

I was wondering, I see people with higher stats such as more ecs or higher SAT scores, etc, but they don't have corresponding matches/reaches like I do. Is there a reason for that?

I think your weakness in English is problematic for Stanford. Is AP English available at your school?

Your SATs are definitely too weak for Stanford.

Last time I checked, microbiology is not a mandatory class for Stanford. Don't sweat it if it is closed. Four years of science can be done in various ways.

I don't think your extracurriculars are limited as the person above stated. Admission people don't want to see that you have joined every club in the world. Don't worry about it. Write good essays and you'll get in. I know someone who got into stanford with about 3 ecs, he was pres. of academic decathalon, in key club, and french club. quality over quantity. good luck
