"How have you taken advantage of the educational opportunities you have had to prepare for college?" could someone give me some examples?</p>

a. swimming
b. my volunteering for an organization for autistic children
c. being a cancer surivor </p>
<p>i was thinking about writing about how i take extra science classes because i want to be a doctor for my first one and writing the volunteering in my second essay and writing about swimming for my third. is there another way i could arrange them?</p>
<p>I went to a program at UCLA and one of the admissions directors wrote a handout on the personal statement. Here's what he said for that question:</p>
<p>DO NOT list the Honors and AP courses you have taken. They are already on another part of your application. However, you can explain what you have learned from these courses. Did you develop a higher level of understanding, improve your study skills, or get excited about a particular area of interst? What did you learn from being part of EAOP, MESA,etc.? </p>
<p>What were you planning to write for the other two questions? Any of your options would be good for this one.</p>
<p>What about a regular ole history class that opened up some doors to other opportunities like being able to participate in the National History Day (in which I gained an appreciation for certain peoples that I never had before)?</p>
