In the EC portion of the app, I put myself down as a quarterfinalist for a state competition. I just realized that I was actually an octofinalist. The results are on the internet, but kind of hard to find. I worry that I might be penalized for messing the application up in the first place if I attempt to correct it now. Should I contact the UC application center to fix the mistake? Is it a big deal?

I wouldn’t fret on it. Doesn’t seem like a big deal.

Na. I’d be more worried if you outright lied and said you were in some kind of competition and won 1st place or something that you actually didn’t enter and win.

They don’t check most people’s ECs, and if they do check yours, they’ll probably give you the benefit of the doubt. If they ask for verification. just tell them that you made a mistake but can still provide proof of that EC. You should be fine.

It’s probably not a big deal, but I have to say I would honestly call/email and try to change it if it were me. I don’t think there’s much of a chance of it getting you in trouble, but I also don’t think you will be penalized for trying to change it, and that way you won’t have to think about it anymore. You will know you tried to do the right thing, and no one could ever say you didn’t. That’s just what I would do. Good luck.
