UC app question regarding "Awards/Honors"

Does being on your community college's "Dean's List" count as an Award/Honor?

I don't know... I've wondered the same thing about being a member of the International High IQ society... is that an honor?

Just put it if its an award. Whether or not the UC's hold that award in high regard would be up to them.

^ What if it's just a designation on your transcript?

I didn't have any others so I put it down for each open space it is technically an academic honor/award and you receive it every quarter at my school if your gpa > 3.5

Im going to be applying for junior transfer- since they allow to choose from 9th-12th grade in high school, should I list high school awards too?

^ I did. Mainly because all my awards/honors are from high school. >_<

[/fail]

yes, it does count as awards/honors.

what is considered a "prestigious" award? scholarships? speech competitions?

I put membership/invitations to honor societies (don't really think they would count as EC's) as well as Deans/Chancellors list commendations.

Yes it counts

Ok, so I guess I'll include me being included on the Dean's List.

Now, the question:

Do I include it for every semester I was on it? I've been on the Dean's list twice (Fall 07 and Spring 08). Should I post each one, or should I just do a general "I've been on the Dean's List twice"? Posting it twice seems a little excessive, but the "Date Received" part implies I should post it twice, once for each semester.

Put the semesters that you are on. For example Fall 07 & Spring 08). I read that as 2 semesters.

Do i have to include highschool's award/honors??
like honor roll, >4.0gpa, varsity letter?

^ Pretty sure you don't have to.

Thanks, get it

are you going to? I am somewhat torn. It will add a lot to my application, but how much of it will be disregarded?

Might as well just add as much as you can. Better to look cocky then incompetent.

If you are applying as a junior, you should not include high school honors.

Columbia_Student, why not?

I actually put awards from when I was in junior high (eek). Should I go ahead and take these off?
