sorry, this is for UCI but the UCR page had the same information.

You need a damn good reason to have a chance of winning an appeal, but it does happen. There's a popular misconception that stellar senior year grades can change minds but that's explicitly stated as not true (Check UC Irvine's Not Admitted page linked above. Very bottom of the text)

Not that I'm implying you're going to appeal for that reason. It's just that a lot of people seem to think they can.

yes, i do have a damn good reason.

look generally appeals have to be something significant you did not already state on your app. Nobodyjay i recall reading you had personal issues wehther it was with family or helath i dont know. If you already mentioned it in your UC app and u still got rejected, you can't appeal with that same information again.

Appeals work but they ahve to be significant. one of my peers from a year ago had a low gpa but high sats and got rejected by Cal and La. Turns out, he was hiding deafness in his left ear from teachers and friends becuaes he didnt want to get special treatment or unfair advantages. But the UC's saw it as a valid reason for a lower GPA and accepted his appeal.

flong - really? I'm deaf in my right ear - people know, but no one really cares. Maybe the UCs will give me a pass on my 3.8W?
