The Governor of California does not manage funds; the state legislature does in managing the budget of California and with Democrats death grip on the state legislature, don't be too sure of cutting UCSD's funds as governor. Though you can propose a budget, this budget needs to be passed with a 2/3rds majority; getting the Assembly or Senate to agree that today is Saturday is difficult enough.

Furthermore, UCSD gets money for the Federal Government as well for it's research and private donations.

thats great, but it was a joke. least i hope so.

haha thx eiffel guy for the info. How about i just become president of the United States lol. Would that do it?

Hahahah...sorry, I'm a poli sci (going to be) major and I have a tendency to be picky about government processes.

Sorry momoney, even the POTUS can't cut funding. You recommend a budget, but it is up to Congress to iron it out and add and change amendments. It depends on your ratings too...if you're popular, than Congress might not change too much and you can get away with it; but if you're job approval rating is down the drain, good luck with it.

Popular presidents can wield and bend Congress, most notably Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Reagan, etc. It helps when your party is in power too.

Best bet is do great in life, forget UCSD, and flaunt your riches by donating to another university. :)

Question: To all of those that got their appeals rejected, where are you going to be going?

haha thx eiffel for the words of wisdom. mega thunder: i got into davis, cal poly slo and pomona, ucsb and irvine all for electrical engineering but what sucks is none of the schools away from home are worth going to for my parents. So looks like im stuck at uci. Cal Poly or davis woulda been fun :(.

appeal rejected from berkeley! going to uci.

I appealed to Cal and UCLA - rejected from Cal and I kinda expect the same from LA, so I'll probably be going to Boston College! :)

BC is not bad at all; congratulations on that.

Thanks! I'm really excited to go

my appeal to ucla got rejected. im going to ucsd.

when did you send in your appeal to UCLA? Just curious...my son sent his in on April 15th and haven't heard yet.

I sent mine out on April 15th also, and according to their decisions site they are still in the process of reviewing it. If you don't mind, would you please let me know when your son receives a response? I'll be sure to let you know if and when I receive mine.

Shouldn't you guys sign your SIR elsewhere because today is the last day for you to send it through the mail or if you're doing it online, tomorrow or Monday for UCs?

i heard this year uc davis had the lowest accepptance rate for appeals According to http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2002/04/30/state1554EDT0094.DTL,
uc davis accepted 300 out of 311 students in 2001. This year they accepted 20/800 students. This year we also don't have gto's. i think our year is cursed.

i just got my "appeal-rejected letter" from ucsd today. But I think they offer me winter admissions. I cant tell because theyre so vague and subtle about it. For courtesy to the orginal creator of this thread Il post what the letter says on my own thread. Please chek it out and help me figure out what theyre saying and what actions i need to take if this is all true.

can u request a uc to offer u admission to winter session?

i mailed my appeal on april 4th.

nsharma: according to the "faqs" on their site no

o sorry that is refering only to ucsd nsharma. Sorry about that. not sure about the others
