UC Appeals

You go out of your way to pick it out. Oh and idunno...just looking at your post history...

yackityack: did you get rejected by ucsb??? because for a few years in the early 2000s, their acceptance rate was actually below 50%, before it has rebounded up to 52% last year.

from what i have seen from your post history, you seem really agitated when the "prestige" of uci is slighted

No, I didn't even apply. I don't really care if people don't like UCI but its just lame to post things that twist the truth and/or go out of the way to pick on certain schools. Don't post things that either aren't true or are your own very biased opinion if you don't want people to call you out on it. Granted I am somewhat biased too, I just don't go around bashing other schools.

yackityyak: you didn't apply to ucsb??? your lies are just as bad as your bashing of other schools.

you're just as crazy as your hombre alicantekid, who claims that he chose uci over berkeley, ucla and ucsd.

I didn't want to go to UCSB. Just wasn't feeling it. That being said, I'm not going to bash it just cause It's not for me. When have I lied or bashed other schools? And why do you think alicantekid is lying? He got a Regents and CHP invite at UCI. Do you know him?

TTTR wrote a few posts back

"people didn't get into UCI? seriously...at my school everyone that applied to UCI got in. sub 1200 sat scores and all."

why don't you denounce that??? are you very particular about what you denounce??? or was TTTR CORRECT

Look at your post history. you are the worst offender of all. how do you know alicantekid so intimately??? or are you LYING again

Well you still haven't pointed out where I have lied or bashed another school. Do I support UCI in my posts based on my experiences? Yes. But I am honest and don't claim that it is something it isn't.

TTTR doesn't make a habit or go out of the way to pick on schools. At least as far as I know.

Actually I think it was Dru who said that not TTTR a few posts back

any truth to "people didn't get into UCI? seriously...at my school everyone that applied to UCI got in. sub 1200 sat scores and all."

on your personal experiences at uci

did you turn down berkeley, ucla, ucsd and possibly ucsb and ucdavis to attend uci, like your hombre alicantekid??

I don't know anyone appealing to UCI so you got me there. I'll be completely honest, when it came down to deciding where to go, it was either UCI w/ scholarship or Cal as a Spring admit. The only school up there that rejected me was UCLA, however I know lot's of people at UCI who got into UCLA but came here. Now these people are mostly CHP students to be sure. Alicantekid has the more impressive schools-got-into list I'll admit, but that doesn't really have anything to do with how my experience at UCI has been.

Goodnight sixthbatter! :)

so you didn't apply to ucsb or ucsd?? i guess the only person that knows the truth, whether you got into cal but turned it down for uci, is you. sleep tight, don't let the lying bugs bite. :)

geez...too much fighting

Well I guess theoretically, everyone could be lying on this board. So you are right, there is no way for me to prove what I say. Anyways, although we may have different perceptions/ways of doing business, no hard feelings and I wish you the best of luck at UCLA next year. It's a great school and I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there.

yackityack for sure/did choose uci prestigious campuswide honors program and like full scholarship over spring admission at berkeley and winter admission at ucsd

alicante kid for sure/did choose uci prestigious campuswide honors program and like full scholarhip over several awesome schools.

seriously a near FULL SCHOLARSHIP at uci versus paying full price somewhere else. for some people it doesn't matter too much but that is quite a bit of money....

sixthbatter: i'm going to ucsb and i love it there but there doesn't need to be any need for bickery. there are many reasons why people go to a lower ranked school over a higher ranked school they got accepted to. one of the main reasons are money and more personalized attention. honors program at uci is very prestigious and is only the top 5% or so. they use the scholarships to attract those very bright ones too.

by the way, i know 2 people appealing to uci who really want to go there (one has a 1480 and got into cornell but she wants to stay here and has a house in newport, the other one is the friend i talked about here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=46883 still no happy ending for him, he hasn't heard from uci)

Yeah, I really didn't mean for my Anteater comment to start a fight about UCI. And though I only came here because I wasn't able to attend Berkeley, I'm still happy I'm here, and I still think it's a great school. There is no difference between the quality of education at Berkeley and UCI; the only difference that exists is in the area of perceived prestige and name recognition. The only reason I want to go to Berkeley is because of a major they have there that is not offered at UCI.

That being said, we should probably steer the conversation back to the original topic of this thread, which is "UC Appeals." Is anyone here planning to appeal to Berkeley?

planning? appeals are over.

Double rejected from Berkeley and SD!

Still waiting on UCLA (not going to turn out well)

My friend also hasn't heard from UCI appeals, it really sucks, he had the same GPA and SAT score as me, but lower SAT IIs and less ECs.

Not for me, it isn't... For the 98032458274th time, transfer have until May 15th! I guess no one here is a transfer student, and I'm all alone... :Sigh:

Damn, all this arguing and related bs, chill kids.

Go Davis, baby!

"you're just as crazy as your hombre alicantekid, who claims that he chose uci over berkeley, ucla and ucsd."

Why does turning down UCB and UCLA to go to UCI crazy? UCI is still a good school, one of the top schools in nation. UCI might be lower ranked than UCB and UCLA, but there are other factors in choosing a college besides ranking. My friend turned down UPenn, UCB and UCLA to go to UCI and he's happy with his decision.
