pretty boring in all other aspects (in my opinion), i guess. haha, whatever my confidence isn’t too high for UC since i’m at the borderline, i’m hoping though…desperately hoping

i think my essay is pretty good though

I had a lot of people go through my essays, so I guess they were good.

1 - ucla (omg omg omg please let me in and i'll make you lots of indian food)

*I think for UCSD, everyone should put their first choice college.

UCB

UCLA

UCSD

UCDavis

UCLA v. UCSD is extremely tough for me though. UCLA has a famous name and a film school but it is Los Angeles. UCSD I like better in almost everywhere.

UC GPA: 4.17

UC GPA: 3.35-3.4
SAT I: 670 V 660 M (1330)
SAT II: 600 M1, 570 W, 510 USH -- but I retook them on January 22nd in hopes that they will be considered new and compelling information if I need to appeal UC Davis.
1st Generation College Student, Low Income, Single Parent Household, Improvement in 11th Grade, maybe more.

I didn't bother applying anywhere harder than Davis because that is my first choice regardless, but now I am thinking I should have at least also applied to the other "medium" uc campuses(UCI, UCSB) and maybe even UCSD for a higher reach. When I did the application I didn't have a fee waiver and didn't want to charge too much money on my parent's credit card.

1.UCSB
Really, I only want to go there, but I felt stupid only applying to one so...
2.Berkeley (testing a theory...)
3.Irvine

UC GPA: 3.89
SAT I: 1310
SAT II: 690 W/540 MIIc/580 USH (these are what worry me...)

ECs: 4-years cheerleading (with leadership awards)

state is a one way ticket to any UC...we'll see about that)
Campaign Work (CA Assembly 2nd district)

Long essay focused on preparation and future plans for intended major (poli-sci). I'm pretty confident in all my essays. I'm also taking a pretty heavy senior class load...nothing compared to some of the people on CC, but heavy for my school. We only have 6 APs at our school, although we do have IB. I'm not IB, but for some reason I'm vouluntarily putting myself through TOK (anyone else take it?).

I'm confident enough, but also freaking out!!! I'm counting down the days (seriously, crossing each one out on my planner) until March 15, when I should know about UCSB. Good luck to everyone.

my first choice for ucsd is Eleanor Roosevelt!

meggs121 - I know this is random, but my friend megan (we're from san diego) went to girls state too - do you know her? she's indian? long hair? or were there tons of people and you guys didn't all get to know each other? I know nothing about girls state, sorry :D

CA resident
1. UCB/UCLA (Far, Far, Far reaches, I applied on a whim)
2. UCSD (A closer reach, I cant remember how I ranked the colleges)
3. UCD/UCSB (I think I'll get into one at least)
4. UCSC (my safety, I hope)

major: poli sci

I have nightmares of getting shut out from all them, but community college isn't the end of the world, right?

UC gpa: 3.7 , no rank

SAT1: 650v, 630m

SAT2: 610 Writing, 570 Mathic, 640 UShistory (took them in Nov., wish I prepped before)

APs: Englishlang- 2(i had a bad day), UShistory-4 (a fluke)

ECs: normal clubs and tennis. actually rather mediocre now that I look back.

I hate my essays now, my personal statement was about camping!!! I have no idea what I was thinking and can't look at it right now without crying. Good Luck to everyone and Ill try to not have a nervous breakdown by next month.

all other UC applicants, come here and share!

lol, good luck everybody :)

UCLA

UCSB

UCSD

SAT: 1300 (640V, 660M)
SAT IIs: 740W, 730Sp, 610M1c
GPA: 3.6, I think. (Rank: Top 14% :()
ECs: Several clubs, but (low-ranking) leadership in only 2
Volunteer work: 100+ hours
Good essays, but could have been cut down more (after all, I condensed my 2000 word essay to like 500 for the NYU app. That same essay was 990 for the UCs, I think.) Also, I made one typo. "scare" instead of "score." lol

I'll be pretty sad if I don't get into any of them, considering I already got into NYU.

SAT: 780 M, 760 V
SAT II: 800 M IIC, 780 WR, 710 SPAN
AP: US HIST-5; SPANLIT-4; SPANLANG-4; CS AB-3
GPA: 3.88 / [3.96 for Berkeley, since they asked for my cum. first semester GPA as well in a letter ...] - including 2 Cs in 9th grade, one in 10th, one in 11th - coming from well-known, competitive public HS in an affluent city (which won't help)
4 Honors classes; 9 AP classes
Essays decent. Ditto awards.
Independent ECs, pretty neat stuff, though.

Applied to- UCSC, UCI, UCD, UCSB, UCLA, UCB
First choice- probably UCSB

Do you guys think I'll get in?

1) UCLA- accepted Chemical Engineering
2) CAL
3) UCSD-
4) UCD
5) UCI
6) UCSB

ACT- 32 (1420)
SAT IIs- 750. 730, 680
GPA UC- 4.34
ECs- Tennis, Anesthetic Research...surfing was my main essay

So_Delirious: i'm curious to know, why is ucsb your first choice? when you obviously have great stats for probably ucla, berkeley, or ucsd

Major: History
1. Cal (Reach)
2. UCLA (Reach)
3. UCI (Possible Match)

SATI: 1260 (710m, 550v)
SATII: 650 2c, 570wri, 580 ush

AP's: Govt (2, Stomach Ache), APUSH (2, Wrote the wrong essay, accidentally chose the other topic)
IB: Bio SL (3, Teacher hates our class)

So Cal Resident, First Generation College, Asian Male

ECs: Envirosci - 4 years - President
International Baccalaureate Association - 4 years - Junior Rep
Model UN - 3 years - Sergeant of Arms and Booster club liaison
Destination Imagination - 2 years - first place regionals
California Scholarship Federation - 4 years - member
Interact - 3 years - member

and meggs121 im in TOK class as well, it's pretty fun class. Except for the dreaded essay we have to write. Watch a lot of movies in that class.

awakenedream:

"So_Delirious: i'm curious to know, why is ucsb your first choice? when you obviously have great stats for probably ucla, berkeley, or ucsd "

I didn't apply to UCSD. I hear that the social life on that campus sucks. Besides, I'm not going to major in a hard science like bio or chem, so the supposedly awesome research opportunities are kinda irrelevant for me

--> UCSB, on the other hand, is supposed to be great socially. Santa Barbara is an awesome town with lots of cool resources and pretty people. It's kind of like LA to me except, well, maybe less superficial.

Berkeley is honestly a nutso communist playground. I mean come on, guys, Berkeley declared itself a nuclear-free zone. What a laugh. I spent the last four years of my political life at school learning to adopt a right-wing political philosophy just so I could add fairness in debates at school; I was sick of the constant Bush-hating, Michael Moore-toting nonsense that constantly flowed out of the mouths of the administration, teachers, and my peers... and yes, I go to a public school.

At the UC campuses you can usually have a great education if you carve yourself one... I think that it would be a lot easier for me to stand out at UCSB academically. It seems like a perfect combination of satisfactory resources and opportunities with a great social life... yeah.

Well, we'll see where I get in. I haven't even visited any of the UCs yet, so I guess that'll make for a pretty big impact on my decision. I think that I want to study math and art history, or possibly late antique cultures (think the fall of the Roman empire and the rise of Christianity.. I have a pretty weird obsession with Christianity, don't ask).

See, I really don't think that I'll end up at UCLA especially with having 4 people review your application and then if any one of them thinks you aren't up to snuff you get rejected-type process. Especially with 4 lovely Cs decorating my transcript - it's funny, 2 of them are in math... what a joke.
