UC Application 2012 Thread

lol don’t laugh at the poor guy. In this world, there are many kind of people, you will encounter anyone of them once in a while. I have come to understand the concept, and now i just enjoy the show. Sometimes, people will get confuse because theyre not sure or never had encountered it, so it takes time.

OMG, Ferrari. Don’t you sleep? :P

^^ LOL at the above 5 posts.

Dont do anything. Wait till you have all your decisions. Decide where you wanna go then sign a SIR. You can wait as long as you want, just submit before the stated deadline.

i bet 2013 transfers are watching this thread heavily and this thread will be quite famous when its their turn after this summer.

Anyways, anyone know if anything is going down tomorrow? What about UC Merced, the forgotten UC, even more forgotten than UCR.

^I was just wondering the same thing. I finally remembered Merced today and decided to check it out…nothing! When are those decisions supposed to come out? I can’t imagine they would be that far off from UCSB, UCI and UCSC decisions…

Just wondering if anyone knows how the UCLA admission decision process works. Are we going to be sent an email to set up a portal account once the decision website opens?

Chance me:
Transfer student to UCI or UCSB
Major: political science
Gpa 3.5

Chances??

hi transfer students from 2013 who are looking at this post right now! ^^

I’m sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, I haven’t come across the answer anywhere yet, but I’m wondering if we can get UCLA decisions online through the UCapply site or if there is an applicant portal for UCLA similar to Cal’s myBerkeleyapplication. Thanks!

@justinetruant: As far as I know UCLA does have a portal site but it doesn’t open to transfers until a certain date. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Edit: Found out that I got accepted to UCR after class today(not that I plan to attend, but its still nice). What a way to start the weekend. yay!

Sooo about that SB acceptance … they told me i was accepted during a reception for out-of-state kids who were “top applicants”, (which is weird because i lived in CA my whole life till last year) however, I haven’t recieved anything in writing yet.

True paranoia at its finest. Where fore art thou March 18th :(

uc davis is out for freshman, sun just posted on her blog.

Current Junior at Sonoma State University
Student Status: 60-89 units completed with C or above
Applied to: UC Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Davis, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz.
Major: Political Science
Minor: Business Management
GPA: 2.847

Pre Requisites: Completed
Essay: Strong essay towards major and intended career choice. Spoke of both the United States business based internship, and the South American business management internships i have completed throughout past summers.

Already have been accepted to UC Riverside to the Political Science/International Affairs Major. What are my chances to the other schools i have applied? Really hoping for Santa Barbara, I appreciate the responses!

^^Merced and Riverside yes

Everywhere else–probably no?

Want to give me a concise answer to why no for the others? My number one choice is UCSB, could you elaborate on their admission requirements?

On their site ( i know they are misleading, but thought to include)

Minimum GPA 2.4 for instate
Prereqs
Experience

My gpa is 2.84
I have all the prerequisites
I feel that my experience place me in different aspect that other applicants in positive evaluation.

2.4 is the bare minimum to apply. but usually at most of the ucs. a bare minimum due to competitiveness is like 3.2-3.3 average and than 3.6-4.0 for ideal.

@ tbuiznis: I think what lawlking means is that a 2.84 just isn’t very competitive based on the statistics of students that are actually admitted. The 2.4 minimum is probably just so that they don’t throw out the application right away. Transferring from 4yr to 4yr is harder than transferring from cc so a 2.84 probably won’t do. 4yr to 4yr transfers make up the smallest percentage of accepted transfer students each year.

I don’t want to sound like a prestige whore, but the effort to get a 2.84 at Sonoma would likely result in a 2.0-2.5ish GPA at a UC. This is dangerously close to failing out of college(you can’t graduate with below a 2.0 in both your major classes AND overall) The UCs don’t want to bring down their statistics.

My friend had to submit proof tho SFSU that she had at least a 3.0 GPA to get admitted this year because she put down a GPA of 2.96 on her app. If SFSU isn’t taking below a 3.0 it’d be hard for me to see how UCSB would take below a 3.0. Never say never though. Stranger things have happened. I hope things go well for u

@tb
You have a really low GPA and are not in a UC or CC. Unless you had some insane heartwrenching story to tell and you told it well on your essay, you only have a good chance at Merced, I would say reject for everyone else. Sorry. Just stay at Sonoma state, moving to Riverside or Merced probably won’t be worth it since you are graduating soon anyway.
