UC Application 2012 Thread

done =). ironically enough the only difficult part of my personal statement was my major, because there was so much i wanted to cover, but only so much space to cover for quality.

For my prompt 2 i was very surprised that searching through my high school essay, i found my personal one that i wrote and it applies to what is happening right now. =) kinda like a life story before it all fell into place.

UCSD Bio people:

Did you guys select a different kind of bio as your alternate? Idk what to do…

“If you choose an impacted major on your application, you must also select an alternate major that is not impacted.”

Whats the difference between Community Service and Extracurricular Activities?

Is anyone’s Extracurricular Activities blank? lol

^ I’m thinking extracurricular is something unpaid you do with the school, community service is with the community, like volunterring at a homeless shelter or something

should I explain my 1 F in one class in the additional comments? I was planning on leaving the additional comments blank. It was a GE class. I didn’t do so great that quarter. Got an A- and B in my two other classes with that F compared to my other quarters of As.

Hey guys,

For the UC application when it asks for “Academic History” and states which college(s) you have attended should I list both my main/satellite campus? Also when it asks for during what time did you attend this college… should I put the end date blank or tell them when I expect to graduate?

Also, I am currently enrolled at two colleges. Should I list both as my current or most recent school?

^ end date is the last time you’re attending the college… so if spring is your last semester then june 2012.

List both.

Thanks! was your “List both.” intended for both the main/satellite campus? I don’t think it matters but I was just wondering.

In the Academic History section, I put in a college course. There is a line for putting in the course with DEPT COURSE NO COURSE TITLE UNITS. how am i supposed to fill these out?

if you took “ECON 101 Principles of Microeconomics” which is 3 units then…

DEPT = ECON
COURSE NO = 101
COURSE TITLE = Principles of Microeconomics
UNIS = 3

I have a question about parent information in the About You section. My father recently retired this past September, so would his current job title be “Retired Person” for 0 years? I would then put his old job for the previous job category. Is this correct?

Thank you.

^That’s what I did Rockoz!

You can’t really go wrong with that. But it also wouldn’t hurt to clarify that in the additional comments box. That’s what it’s for.

just hit submit. now it’s in fate’s hands.

): omg I’m freaking out! I was just about to hit “submit” for my app when I noticed that it says I only have 58 transferable units instead of 60-- I’m using my passing AP credits to cover that remaining 2 units (which my counselor said is ok) but why is this not showing up on my app??

Just want to clarify: Is transferring into a major in which you have completed all the prerequisites better than into a major (which has much more pre-reqs) in which youre only missing one?

@tseliottt

Generally, yes.

where does it say your total number of units on the application???

submitted!!! that was alot of money to apply to 5 schools. gosh!
anyways… now its time to play the waiting game. april 2012 couldnt come around any faster.
