UC Application help

What courses are considered College Prep Electives? The UC application help didn't make much sense to me.

any a-g class that exceeds the minimum requirement. For example, Pre-calc is a math elective since it exceeds the math requirement (Alg II).

If you are in-state, you can look up your HS on doorways and search for individual classes and how they are classified by UC.

University of California Doorways Home

yeah I tried that and my school was not found.

Since pre-calc excees math requirement, should I not list it as a mathematics then? The only things I currently listed under that category are AP Micro and Macroeconomics. Also, should I not list courses like marketing, intro to computer tech, and intro to business? Thanks.

silverZc- bluebayou is right, you need to get that list. TRy searching witho ne word of the name of your h.s. It sometimes abbreviates names of schools. You can't guess on college prep electives, they are defined by the uc on your hs's list.

oops, my bad. Yes, definitely list PreCalc under Mathematics. If your other classes are UC-approved a-g courses, they should be listed under Other College Prep. If they are not a-g courses, such as health, study hall/aid, PE, and the like, they need not be listed.

List all academic classes and let them figure out what to keep or not. As posted above, leave off PE and other classes. My son had taken some college classes while in high school that did not fit neatly into the list from the UC website and the admissions people told him to list academic subjects in that section.

^^for others reading thread, to add college classes you need to click on Add School and then go sort for the college (if its listed).
