why did they give people 2 extra days?

I know, that ****es me off...if ppl can't get their apps on time, that's their problem..they procrastinated

Because the server kept crashing due to heavy use of applications and it was 11/30 was the last day of open enrollment for employees to make changes to benefits package.

It was fair.

i dont recall the server crashing after 6pm on 11/30

who cares. quit being bitter.

It was crashing -- or being very slow--on the 11/28 and 11/29. We were trying to submit an application on 11/29 about 10:30 pm and couldn't get through -- so I got up at 5:00 AM on 11/30 and finally got through.

I think it's fair, a student's next 4 years could be dependent on these apps, how would you feel if your next 4 years is ruined by server crashes?

If I knew the next 4 years depended on my application I would have sent it well before the deadline. It even warns people not to wait until the last day because of possible server crashes.

still, (note that I didn't apply UC, but just went through the server crashes with my friend) my friend asked teachers and parents to give her feedback on her essay, an they got back to her on the 28th, we had a project due 29th so she had to do the editing on 29th. then server crashed like mad and she was really a mess. if someone close to you went through the server crashes then you wudnt mind the extension as much.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying people who submitted on December 2nd should burn in agony for the rest of their lives. I'm just saying that if I had worked harder to finish earlier, I would be slightly annoyed, too. Someone close to me did go through server crashes, and while I felt bad because of the temporary heart attack it gave her, I couldn't help thinking it was her own fault.

It wasn't crashing AT ALL for me on the 30th. I logged in to slow the server down to see if it was lagging and it wasn't. I did it at least five times the whole day and it worked great.

The 29th, on the other hand, was a major problem. At about ten the server went down and didn't come back till 2 AM. I was up for four hours trying to submit the apps.

This is messed up. I could have had three more days to make sure my essays were fine and dandy but no...the UCs had to be stupid and save the late comers. They're decreasing my chances to get into college and I don't think it's right. Granted, most of the top seniors probably got their apps in before the 30th because they're more serious about getting in, it's still wrong.

with all of thxgiving break before, i had plenty of time... just sat down and hammered through it and got mine in sunday. shame on those prcrastinators, but nyeh, nothing can be done now..

Shame on those procrastinators? How about shame on you for trying to depend on others not getting in to have a shot at the UC? If you are such not a diligent worker, why don't you just work hard enough for that 4.5 and 2300 so you don't have to depend on others to get in there?

I have heard remarks such as "i hope the system will keep on crashing" on like the 29th. Just how low can humanity sink?

Sympathy - I said I was annoyed with procrastinators getting the luxury of two more days (something that would have benefited non-procrastinators as well), not that people would have had a better shot at getting in without them. Stop jumping to conclusions. Those people you've heard talking about how they hope the system will crash? They're morons.

I am sorry if you felt that message was directed right at you but I was merely aiming at people like this :

damn it! that means more competition! ugh!!

[quote]
too much more competition

i hope all the people applying today and tomorro are weak applicants and procrastinators who will be rejected anyway lol. I really don't need more competition either. my chances are slim as it is!

I think you are right, stop jumping to conclusions and think everything is directed at you ;) Thank you.

How witty. :) What do you expect, you didn't quote and left no hint as to who the heck you were replying to.

I was refering to people as a whole and i don't think i can list 325243 people O_O. And its funny how the ones who react the most violently to it may be the guiltiest one. And please read the word MAY this time.

thanks :)

my questions was why was there an extension of 2 days, was there something on the UC site that explained this

"And its funny how the ones who react the most violently to it may be the guiltiest one."

Yeah. I sure reacted violently. I was just saying, don't be surprised that someone would answer back if you didn't specify the people you were referring to. You don't even have to list 325243 people, genius. Just don't be a smartass about it.

I think you should really realize not everything is about you. I said "Ones" , not MIRROROFDIRT.

PS: just wondering if you know what the word hypocrite means and YES, this time I am talking to YOU.
