If you took the SAT with writing and then took ACT without writing will UC admissions accept both scores. My son is applying to engineering major at several UC’s and got 1490 on SAT and then a 34 composite on ACT. Obviously he’d like the ACT score to be used as it’s slightly higher. If he sends both scores to schools will it be sufficient? Will admissions see that the writing portion was taken with the SAT and then use the ACT scores for admissions?
No. They will only accept the SAT with essay and/or ACT with essay. No essay, the scores will not be considered.

All students are required to take either the ACT with Writing or SAT with Essay (taken March 2016 or later). Self-report your scores on your application and submit official test results to UC by the stated deadline.
