Im in a very similar postion as all of you guys, prolly less competitive tho. I will have a 3.49 at the end of fall at PCC. I was to late to join tap, becuase when i found out about the program i was 38 units in. Im a poli sci major who aplyed to UCB and UCLA. I know UCB is an impossiblity, but what do u guys think about UCLA?(One advantage i have is an internship at a law office, which i have been doing since last spring for 20 hours a week)

Interning at a law firm, or so I heard, gives you an edge. I, too, am working / interning at one. I really doubt that most poli sci majors will have this on their uc apps. I'd say that you have a decent chance.

you think 50/50, or less?

The average GPA for poli sci at UCLA is a 3.5. So your chance is good. I one-upped you guys by WORKING at a courthouse! OHHhhhh. yeah.

If you've got a 3.5 with your pre-reqs done and honors then you'll have a good chance at Poli Sci at UCLA.

Just a random word of warning for all of you considering taking Poli Sci. Classes in that department are a fight to get into, they fill up incredably quickly. I'm only minoring in Poli Sci and I had a hard time finding even one class still open. So while I am likely talking out of annoyance at the moment, just be warned that we have a lot of majors in that field here!

A courthouse? Pshhhhhh. That is child's play.

Do they adcoms factor in your Spring grades at all or do they just look at the classes your taking to see if you'll be IGETC certified and completed with your pre-reqs?

Do the adcoms factor in your Spring grades at all?

No.

do they---look at the classes you're taking to see if you'll be IGETC certified and completed with your pre-reqs?

Yes.

"Do the adcoms factor in your Spring grades at all?"

gabew42, that goes for winter session grades too, correct?

Correct. Winter grades are not factored in unless there is some special circumstance--perhaps on an appeal a person's winter grades could be factored in.

That would mean that this semester I'll have to work my arse off to maintain my 3.7X. Yikes. And I thought the battle was over when I was finished with the UC apps. I was wrong.
