Hello all! I'm sort of baffled by the UC honors designations. I read the website and it seems to me that the only classes that are considered honors level are the highest level, non-AP courses for junior year.

Does that mean that, unless a student skips grade levels for courses, the only courses that
get any weighting in sophomore year are APs?

Is it normal, therefore, for applicants to only have 2 honors/APs sophomore year and 6 honors/APs junior year?

If, sophomore year, I took what my school considered honors, will those courses be viewed that same as their non-honors equivalents (as in, would an all-honors course load be viewed the same as an all-non-honors course load simply because because they were at a sophomore level?)

Also, a couple of situation-specific questions:
At my school, sophomores can take regular biology or regular chemistry and then take honors chemistry, honors biology, or AP biology junior year OR they can take honors chemistry as a sophomore and then honors/AP biology the following year. Would honors chemistry count as a UC-approved honors course?

For history, after sophomore year, all the course are either regular or AP, no "honors." Does this mean I can count sophomore honors history as a UC honors, even though it is geared towards sophomores, because it is the highest level pre-AP course?

Finally, for foreign languages, my school offers levels 1-4 and then AP. Many people take languages in middle school and bypass level 1, but there are also people who start from 1 and reach level 3 in their junior year. If I bypass level 1, can I count level 3 as an honors course?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, but my guidance counselor really doesn't know anything about the UCs. Thanks in advance for your help!
