So how do they prove it
@pinkponylife if you are accepted, you need to get IGETC certification from your CCC. The CCC will want your high school transcript (or letter from a principal, I think is also an option). Anyhow, they get that and sign you off.
Guys I’m really paranoid. I have a 3.69. My IP classes will make than a 3.7. I’m majoring in History. Comfort me. I can always appeal right? My major is not impacted right? I’m Afghani, poor and first generation that helps right? I can always transfer from other UC’s right?
Right.
@pleaseberkeley Yes, you can appeal. No, your major is not impacted, but you are technically admitted by division - still, I know people who got into Berkeley’s PoliSci with 3.5’s and 3.79’s, and PoSci is far more competitive to get into than History (it seems). Yes, that helps. And no, you cannot transfer from other UC’s (or, well, technically you could if you didn’t take any upper division units, but that’s definitely not the thing to do if you want to transfer to Berkeley. Waste of money.
Either way, if you will have all prerequisites (or all available at your CC) and IGETC completed by the Spring, then you have good chances. How was your PS?
Man, I filled out some CSU safety school applications yesterday. Their applications are terrible compared to the UC’s. Part of that might just be that I’ve stared at the the UC app for the past month or two, but for one, the CSU app really doesn’t let you provide much of a picture about you. And then for adding courses, you just have to put classes under different headings (i.e. Life Sciences), but when you added courses, they were just generic courses and it didn’t really matter (or signify) what they were. This is confusing when you’re adding a ton of courses.
I don’t know. It just seemed really poorly thought out.
Applied to Cal Poly and Sonoma State though, as well as a few random UCs as I had a fee waiver. Don’t really care about Sonoma State, but if I don’t get into my first choice I don’t really feel like moving.
My daughter did it the one time when she applied to cal poly and I was shocked too at how bare bones it was. It seems to me there was another issue she had to email them about to verify she wasn’t overlooking it. This is how applications used to be in the old days, haha, except you hand-wrote it out and mailed it.
Also she never got an actual acceptance email from cal poly, just an email saying something like, now that you’re admitted, don’t forget housing! She was like what? Then went up and found another bare bones bland congratulations. This was early, I think early March. So be on the look out.
@goldencub I think it was good. It was the best essay I think I have ever written but considering they get a lot of good essays ill assume it was average for what they get. If you want to read it I can send it to you and you can rate it?
I added a winter intercession class at the last minute due to some issues. It shows up on my transcript under Fall 2015. The intercession ends on the 15th of January but I know it can take a while for grades to be posted and grades need to be updated to the UC’s by January 31st. If that one class doesn’t post my grade by then, won’t that cause a problem? It’s a communications class that I know UC’s don’t really require us to take but still.
@boxandwhiskers, In the January TAU, you can reconfigure it to winter session.
@pleaseberkeley I’m terribly busy, but I’ll take your word for it.
You have a solid shot. Keep the grades up. Good luck.
On the transfer admission flier, it says that CS L&S is an independent major. But on the application, it listed it under the Mathematics department. Does this mean if I’m admitted, I’m admitted to the math department?
Holy crap. They extended the submission date to January 4th. There were so many ECs that I couldn’t report on my application, because this is my first semester at CC (I have 30 AP units), that I could have reported January of next semester. Why couldn’t they have said something before December? That’s completely unfair–to give those who procrastinated a whole extra month.
You are going to update your application in early January, so don’t worry you will report your fall semester.
I applied last year. You can only update fall grades for January update, not others.
They only accept final fall grades. They won’t consider ECs that weren’t listed in original application.
I wonder what is the real reason they extend the deadline… is it because of lack of applicants this year?

Hey @ccAndronicus ! I am curious, how did you manage to get a research internship at Berkeley ?
@AceFocused honors program
@AceFocused I met with a UCB representative last year and she gave me insight on an internship that was only available to California community college students. The program is called the Transfer-to-Excellence Research for Undergraduate (TTE REU) program. I highly suggest you look into it. It became one of the best experiences of my life.
