How does the transfer application look like? Is there a place where you list your extracurriculars or are they just included in your essays?
You’ll list out your courses/grades, AP tests, extracurriculars, and other information, and then you’ll have a space to submit your personal statement. Write it on a word doc and then paste it on the app. You can start with the transfer admission planner now, I think.
Yep the transfer admission planners up. My husband just inserted all his info today. Does anyone know if with the UC application you can leave out classes that don’t pertain to your major? He got a B in a high level Spanish class he challenged a couple years ago but his major is engineering.
@sugarbabies3 You have to report ALL college-level coursework. ALL.
^^^ agree.
Everyone should be so lucky they want to leave out a B.
If I failed a class in the past, and have recently retaken it do I have to put both the old failed grade, and the new grade on my application? Or do I just use the retake grade?
@Evilcow867 Include both, they’ll recalculate your grade with the new one
@luckie1367 Alright, thanks
@Evilcow867 On the application, you’ll put the old class when it was taken. When you get to the new class with the new grade, the application should ask if you if this grade is to replace the previous one.
At least that’s how it’s done on the Transfer Admission Planner, so one would think it’s the same for the actual app.
How far are you guys into your essays so far?
Haven’t started.
I should probably get on that. Been busy with summer school and travel … and fall is going to be a heavier course load and I’m getting married during it. Oy …
Any thoughts on the transfer gpa to Cal’s Econ? I’ve checked last year and the previous year’s thread and the admitted gpa ranges from mid 3.6s to high 3.9s, holistic admission much?
Yo do you have to list out all of your AP scores? I got a 4 on my Spanish test and it doesn’t count… Can I just leave it out?
@EECSProdigy yeah i was wondering the same thing. i took the AP physics exam during my senior year and didn’t do so well. don’t want to include it on my app (has nothing to do with my major anyways). can we leave out certain scores and just put in the ones we want?
dude i know this guy applying for EECS admission… he’s indian, 15 years old, 4.0 HS GPA/4.0 CC gpa(took cc classes while in HS), won US math olympiad 13th place, all 5’s AP tests… How do you compete with these people lol. At least want to make sure I have all 5’s on ap tests… I’m also aiming for regents.
@themightybicycle @EECSProdigy You have to put ALL test scores.
EECSProdigy, a 4 isn’t at all bad. If anything, it’ll look good that you’re decently proficient in another language.
@briank82 that’s exciting!
Yeah, I haven’t started yet either. I’m planning to write drafts when I have my 1-week summer break, and my Fall schedule’s going to be light such that I’ll be able to dedicate a good amount of time to the PS.
Is there no place to enter EC’s in the transfer planner?
Also I found this: “Although the College Board reports all AP tests results to us, students should be aware AP test scores lower than 3 will not adversely affect their chances for admission.” http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/exam-credit/ap-credits/index.html
How many boxes do they have for you to list your EC’s?
@EECSProdigy 15 I heard and apparently you’re supposed to fill them all up no matter what it is
I don’t have 15 Might make it to 12 though we’ll see.
