UC Berkeley 2017 Transfer Thread

@champagnemami Thank you for the response! Do you by chance know about how long you waited for a response? I am dealing with a somewhat unique situation in terms of residency and am stressing just a little bit haha

What in the hell? My MAP portal doesn’t think I SIR’d either. I have a receipt for paying my deposit and submitting on May 11. I will be contacting admissions.

@californiannnnnnnnnnnn No problem! I waited about a week for it.

@Allpassguy Hi, yes I submitted the summer session application before the decision day. I was seriously thinking about taking classes, but I never went forward with it. However, I was one of the people who saw that I’d gotten in on CalCentral like ~six hours before the actual decision. I was thinking that maybe that glitch played into it, too. My CalCentral dashboard still has not updated (all of my tasks are gone) but my @ MAP portal is fine now – the notification saying the SIR deadline has passed is gone, and instead, I’m directed to an FAQ sheet for accepted transfer students.

I called admissions immediately upon noticing it. They fixed the problem within an hour, verifying that the mistake had been corrected in the computer via email. However, I’m still anxious/shaken about the entire situation – I’m hoping my housing application and other components weren’t affected by the hiccup.

I tried calling about this problem prior to June 1st, but admissions and transfer counselors kept telling me not to worry about it and that it wasn’t a problem. But it obviously was an issue that CalCentral wasn’t updating after I submitted my SIR on the 30th!

Were you able to fix the problem prior to the 2nd? When did you submit your SIR?

@lexluther96 I’m having the exact same issue as you. I submitted my SIR before the deadline and it took a few days before it was placed under the completed section. I checked the MAP portal and it says that I still haven’t submitted the SIR. All of my tasks on the dashboard have disappeared as well. I’m not exactly sure who I should contact about this problem. I’ve just been waiting it out and hoping that the tasks would reappear but it hasn’t been successful.

Did anyone submit a SLR?

@caffeinated24 Call admissions asap on Monday. Do you have your SIR receipt?

@lexluther96 Yes, I do. I’ll call admissions on Monday to try and sort this out. I’m totally freaking out right now but the fact that others are having this issue makes me think it’s just because of the Cal Central website. Thanks for your help!

@caffeinated24 I am calling Admissions Monday, too. Email your admissions officer that is listed on the top of your Conditions of Admission as well. I’m sure it will all work out, there are others on the transfer Facebook group that said they heard of this happening to friends in previous years and it worked out.

@smrider29 Okay, awesome. Thanks for the advice; it was super helpful.

Does anyone know when housing offers are typically/historically released? Someone once told me July, but when I visited the housing office on campus last month, a receptionist/employee told me the second or third week of June.

Have anyones AP scores been moved to the completed tab yet?

@TL0067 Mine were moved to completed last week on 6/15, so they just started going through them. I got confirmation they were sent from College Board weeks ago.

Has anyones college transcript and highschool transcript tasks been cleared yet?

Also what housing offers did you all get? I got a double in the Channing Bowditch Apartments

:frowning: I didn’t get a housing offer this first round. I’m going to be stuck living with freshman in one of the dorms. Hope I still have a chance of getting an apartment.

Just got in off the waitlist yesterday. Any general info and a such that people on this thread could offer us newly accepted students? It’d be greatly appreciated!

Congrats @Orangered123 !!! I also got accepted yesterday, but off the appeal list. Go bears!

@Orangered123 Congrats on getting in! Something I suggest you do asap is go on Calcentral (make one if you have not already) and complete the list of tasks they have set out, especially the golden bears orientation.

Best of luck at cal!

Is it normal that my student profile says “Level: Freshman”?
