@Orangered123 Knew it well that’s pretty much the only class they really offer for gender studies at any community college. I would’ve taken more if they let me know what else but that was basically it ! My igetc is done as well.
Thanks for the positive answer hehe @FishoMath
@cydkim I think so, my friends transferred to Cal last year and they said they have to maintain at least a B for all major classes and 3.0 GPA overall for last semester
Hey so can someone please chance me.
Major: EECS
Overall GPA: ~3.72 (academic turnaround)
Major GPA: 3.98
Prereqs: Minimum prereqs completed by Spring 2017
Recommended: Will have completed equivalents for CIS 61 B
ECs: Worked as a contract software engineer for Cisco Systems, Did research at Stanford Graduate School of Education, Did research at UPenn Wharton Business School, 2 patents and 3 trademarks awarded, Sold my startup after dropping out of college and returned to use the money to pay for my own undergrad degree. STEM Club. Alpha Gamma Sigma Member. Free tutoring for disadvantaged students. Volunteer for Boost@BerkeleyHaas
Essays: 10/10. Wrote about teaching myself the concepts from CS 61 A/B/C and reading the materials for EE16A/B, taking care of my uncle as he died with cancer and starting a tech company and selling it after he motivated me to take risks, increasing representation of women and LGBT people within the STEM club, and lastly how I am spending the money earned from selling my company. (Note that these are all individual essays for the different prompts)
Applied: UCB, UCD, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, Stanford, Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, SCU, Carnegie Mellon, USC, UMichigan
Did we submit high school transcripts to the UCs we applied to? No, right? I’m blanking!
@lexluther96 If memory serves right, you do it after you’re accepted.
@eel314 EECS is always hard to chance someone for, but your ECs are definitely very, very strong. Your GPA is a bit lower, but I’m sure you explained that well and your major GPA is high. I’d say you have as much of a shot as anyone, but again it’s a very difficult program to chance people on.
@lexluther96 Nope, HS transcripts are irrelevant at this point if you are a Junior transfer.
Does anybody know how UC evaluates our application ? Which criteria do they weigh more between GPA, extracurricular and personal essay?
@FishoMath http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/transfer-admission-matrix.pdf
Basically, UCLA and Berkeley do what they call a “holistic review,” meaning they take everything, including GPA, prerequisites completed, ECs, and personal insight responses, into account when reviewing your application. They like to consider the student as a whole. However, much of the decision still comes from your overall UC-transferable GPA.
Some of the other UCs, on the other hand, like UCSD and UCSB, don’t review your personal insight responses, and base their decision almost solely on your GPA and completion of major prerequisites.
Hope this was helpful!
@plsacceptmeUCs nice screen name xD
@mightyMETA haha thanks!
@lexluther96 @bugajskj Junior transfers are still required to submit high school transcripts. The grades don’t matter but they are requested.
@briank82 I don’t think everyone has to submit high school records; I was recently admitted to UCSB and in my contract they had a line saying I had to submit either high school transcripts or complete IGETC certification by july 15 or so
@briank82 Yes, after you are accepted they are required. Until then, they are not.
@Orangered123 If I get accepted, I don’t think I’ll be taking classes at Cal in the summer, I’d like to avoid being burned out. Semesters are long! Would you?
@doihaveashot2016 If accepted I’m interested in pursuing a double major and taking summer classes will ease the extra course load I’ll have to take to double major.
High school students got their acceptance/rejections information today, our decisions aren’t too far off. How is everyone feeling?
Impatient.
@LandUseLaw Same. I’m dying to learn about my decision. Have to figure out if I’m going to shave my head or dye my hair a “neon color.”
Hi guys! Does anyone on here know how hard it is to change majors after you are accepted to UC Berkeley? I’m thinking about requesting a change of major if I am admitted, but I’m wondering how difficult that would be.
